Brick walls. That's all Jin had been hitting in the days of his quest to find Namjoon. It was so frustrating to have to do this on his own, so opted for help from Yoongi and Jungkook. Even if they didn't know anything, maybe they knew something that would help.
"So," Jin started while the three of them sat in a starbucks that was Hoseok and Jimin's dance studio in previous realities. "You guys know that new movie coming out? Just One Day something or other—"
"Um, YES?" Jungkook answered immediately, demeanor completely changing from how mad he was at Seokjin for not picking him up.
Yoongi rolled his eyes before sipping at his coffee. "Cue fanboy mode..."
"Kim Taehyung and Victoria Song are my OTP!" the younger went on. "Victoria is so gorgeous and Taehyung is so fucking hot oh my god I love them."
Jin didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It was so strange hearing Jungkook talk about them like that. Did he think that of the two when they were all friends? "Then you must know where the screening is taking place?"
"Of course I do! I have front row seats!" Jungkook was beaming so much that the sun could have died and nobody would notice. "I got all of us tickets just in case, even though I know Yoongi hates them." The maknae then winked, making Jin raise an eyebrow in amusement. "Yoongi actually thinks they're hot, too," Jungkook whispered loudly across the table.
Yoongi smacked Jungkook upside the head. "Shut up, idiot. I think that they're both fake ass plastic barbies created to please the public eye. No better than prostitutes if you ask me."
"It's just a front," he said, rubbing his head.
Jin hadn't even heard their little bickering episode because he was so fixated on what Jungkook had said. He had tickets to the screening. This was his only opportunity to find Taehyung and Victoria. And possibly Namjoon.
"Um, quick question," the eldest prefaced. "Do you guys happen to know anybody named Kim Namjoon?"
Yoongi and Jungkook furrowed their eyebrows in thought before coming to the same conclusion. "No."
"Not that I remember." But then Jungkook suddenly perked. "Wait."
                              -
A subway ride later, they arrived at Woori Bank, one of the most popular banks in South Korea, and also the one that Yoongi used. He stared up at the building dubiously.
"Jungkook...are you sure there's someone by that name here? I don't remember a Kim Namjoon..."
The younger nodded eagerly. "I swear! I remember the name plate. I can take you directly to his desk."
Jin smiled, excitement rising in his chest. "Lead the way, Kook."
Jungkook entered, followed by his hyungs. The bank lobby was busy inside with customers everywhere and bank tellers trying to manage the lines. Almost every desk in the back was full, but it didn't deter the youngest.
He bounded right to the back of the large room and took and right to stroll along the many desks that held customers trying to get out of debt or get another credit card or settle assets. It didn't take long to reach the very edge of the room.
Jin's eyes couldn't help but widen at what he saw. A tall, nerdy-looking man in glasses sat behind the desk, listening intently to what his customer was saying. He wore a terrible plaid blazer and khakis that made him look like Jake From State Farm. His black hair was stringy and sticking to his forehead. He looked miserable.
"Oh, Namjoon," he muttered in pity. How had Jin changing Taehyung's past made all of this happen? Namjoon was a banker, Victoria and Taehyung were famous, Hoseok and Jimin had seemingly fallen off of the earth. It was strange how interconnected their lives all seemed to be.
