by 7:55, i reached the hospital. there were many empty parking spots so i parked in the one closest to the door. i grabbed my keys and came out of my car, i headed into the hospital and pushed the "up" button on the elevator. the doors opened with a beep, and i went inside. i pressed the "3" button.

when i was on the third floor, i went over to the desk. i noticed that the same receptionist from yesterday was sitting behind the desk.

"hi, can i see Jonah Frantzich?" i asked with a smile.

"hold on. i'll call his room and see if he can be visited." the receptionist said, smiling as well. i smiled again and waited. i was just hoping that i wouldn't run late for school. as i was waiting, i trailed off and started thinking about what Emma and Maddie were telling me yesterday. how i should ask Jonah out hen he comes back. i'm thinking about it, and i realized that it might not be so bad. if he likes me then what should i be worried about? i heard someone's voice near me. and then suddenly i felt a faint tap on my back.

"hello, miss?"

i quickly turned around and looked back at the receptionist. "oh, yeah. sorry."

she stood up. "follow me." she started walking into the hallway and i followed her. she opened the door to reveal Jonah still on the hospital bed. she held the door open for me as i went in and then she left, closing the door behind her.

"hey." i said. Jonah looked my way and smiled.

"hi. thanks for coming."

"yeah, of course."

"how much time do you have?"

"uh," i looked at my phone, the time read 8:08. "well its 8:08, so school starts in 22 minutes."

"okay."

i nodded and noticed a vase of flowers sitting on the table beside him. i got up and walked over to it.

"hey, who brought these?"

he looked over at me. "oh, i don't even know. i was sleeping yesterday afternoon and when i woke up they were just sitting there. i asked a nurse and she said some girl came in."

"what? that's weird."

"yeah. probably someone from school or something."

"what if it was Esther?" i asked, thinking about his sister.

"yeah, that's what i thought. but the nurse said she was blonde."

"okay, then." i walked back over to the bed.

"do you know when you're coming back to school? it's gonna be so different without you."

"the nurse said maybe on either Monday or Wednesday. it'll probably most likely be Wednesday because they want to make sure that my arm is fine so i can get back to baseball and that kind of stuff."

what? a week? that's too long of a wait, especially with what i'm planning for him.

"a week? that's long..." i said out loud. i looked around and noticed a teddy bear sitting on a chair.

i took a step towards it.

"do you have two secre-" i was about to take another step when he grabbed my hand. "et admirers?" i finished my sentence. i looked down at my hand and it was interlocked with his. he looked up and smiled at me.

"i know. i didn't even get a bad injury." he tried to get up.

"hey, lay down." i took my hand away from his and tried to put him back down. he sighed and lied back down.

"i've been like this for so long."

i laughed. "long? it's been like a day and a half, dumbass."

"wow, you're still being mean to me even when i'm sick." he giggled.

"hey the sick card doesn't work with me." i laughed. he laughed and then held my hand again.

"i miss you." he blushed, and i must've too.

"even when i'm standing here?"

"yeah, i want to go back to school and do dumb stuff again."

"only if it won't hurt you again." i laughed.

"i miss the boys, too. tell them i'll be back next week."

"of course."

he lifted my hand up and kissed it.

"bye, friend." he probably wanted to say more.

"bye, dummy."

"stop flirting with me."

i laughed and looked at the time on my phone. 8:22?!?

"crap!!! how the hell is it already almost 8:30?!?" i ran out of the room while Jonah made fun of me. i ran to the elevator and ran out of the hospital as soon as it reached the main level. i took my car keys out of my pocket and went in my car. i hit my head on the steering wheel while it turned on.

"i knew i would be late." i said to myself. i was late once last week too, and now the teacher's going to be mad at me.

after my car was fully on, i started driving to school, hoping i wouldn't be too late.
