"okay so we need a plan in case they come upstairs." Jonah said.

i remembered the knife, which was hidden under my pillow.

"we have this." i said, holding it up.

"oh, yeah. but they might have a gun, so." Jonah replied.

"true. but i don't get why they're even here, why'd they pick my house?" i asked. i was starting to get more scared and worried.

"shh. listen." Jonah walked towards the door and put his ear up to it.

"shit. i hear footsteps." he said with a scared look on his face.

without saying anything i ran into my closet and hid behind my clothes. Jonah didn't move.

"what are you doing? do you want to get killed? 'cause i don't."

"and i don't want you to get killed." he said.

"okay, but it's safer if we both hide. so come here before they come in."

Jonah walked over to the closet door and came in, sitting down beside me. i then closed the door.

"the door's still locked, right?" i asked.

"yep."

"I KNOW SOMEONE'S UP HERE!" i heard one of the men yell. Ace was still barking and growling at them, and they couldn't care less. but the other one was starting to get annoyed.

"shut up," he said loudly.

"okay, we have to call the police!" Jonah whispered.

"okay." i reached in my pocket.

"shoot i forgot it on my bed." i said.

"hold on." Jonah got up.

"be careful."

he opened the closet door and walked over to my bed. in a minute he was back, holding my phone. he gave it to me and sat back down, closing the closet door again.

"thanks." i said.

i turned my phone on and went to the emergency keypad and dialed 911.

"911 what's your emergency?" a lady said over the phone.

"um, hi. two men broke in to my house and my parents aren't home."

"okay. are you completely alone?" she asked.

"no. my dog is trying to attack them and my friend is with me." i told her.

"okay. can you tell me what they look like?" she asked.

"i'm not sure. i didn't get a good look at them. but i know that one has messy dark brown hair and the other is wearing a black mask on his face."

"okay. and what is your address?" she asked.

"it's 137 Crimson Drive."

"okay, we're sending people over now."

"please hurry. they're on the same floor as me and they're going to come to my room in any minute."

"stay calm, dear. if they come in you can call us again and we can tell our drivers to go faster."

"okay. but please make sure they're fast."

"yes, we will."

"thank you." i said. and i hung up, putting my phone in the pocket of my jeans.

that's when i heard the footsteps getting louder, and closer...
