The next day, Nathan was asking Anna the next time they can go out. Their date is set up for the weekend, and Anna decided that that was going to be when she breaks things off with him once and for all.
It was now Friday, and Anna and Robert were at work, like usual. "Want to go out tomorrow?" Robert suddenly asks.
"Robert, I would love to go out, but I told Nathan I would go with him tomorrow, and I decided that I'm going to end it with him during that date..." Anna explains.
"That's okay, maybe afterward you can come to my place?" Robert proposes.
"I will see how it goes, because if it goes badly I will probably feel too bad about it..." Robert nods.
"Well, the offer will stay there." Anna smiles and they both get back to work.

Anna was getting ready for her last date with Nathan, her heart was pounding, knowing she was going to hurt him in just an hour or so later.
He told her to wear a dress of some sort, but didn't tell her anything else about where they are going. So, Anna decided to wear a sleeveless black dress that was short in the front and long in the back, with cutouts on the sides.
There was a knock on her door, she opened it to find Nathan in a nice suit, looking her up and down. "Holy shit..." He whispers and Anna blushes.
"You look very handsome yourself..." Anna compliments, making Nathan snap out of his thoughts.
"Why thank you, beautiful..." He gives her a kiss. "Ready to go?" He asks.
"Yes, where are we going?"
"It's a surprise..." Nathan smirks.
"No fair." He shrugs, walking towards his car.
"Don't worry, we'll have fun." He assures as they get in his car and start to drive away. Anna sits there silently, dreading to break things off with this man for his brother. "You okay? You look like you are disappointed..." Nathan suddenly says.
"No, everything's fine! Just been a tiring week back to work..." Anna lies.
"Well, I hope you'll like this..." Nathan says as he pulls into the parking lot of a karaoke bar.
"Karaoke, huh?" They get out of his car.
"Yep, I want to here you sing..." Nathan grins adorably.
"I'll need to be drunk enough to go up there and butcher a song." Anna kind of jokes.
"I'm sure you are a beautiful singer." Nathan compliments as they walk into the building. They immediately go up to the bar and get a drink. "In the mood for a martini?"
"Sure!" They both get a martini and slowly drink it, making conversation. Anna, mostly stalling so that she doesn't rush to spill out her affair with his brother.
After awhile, Anna finally gathers up the courage to tell him what he deserves to know. "Nathan... I need to tell you someth-" She gets cut off by Nathan standing up.
"We can talk later, I have a surprise for you!" He says before rushing up on stage after a lady sang a sad song.
"Fuck... Don't do it Nathan, you'll just make this harder..." Anna says to herself, watching Nathan get the microphone and winking at her.
"Ahem... Hello, everybody. My name is Nathan, and this is dedicated to the woman who changed me and made me a better man..." He announces to everyone, then the music starts.
"I've been reading books of old, the legends and the myths..." His voice his a smooth baritone, recreating Coldplay's and The Chainsmoker's 'Something Just Like This'. "She said 'Where'd you wanna go? How much you wanna risk?' I'm not lookin for somebody with superhuman gifts. Some superhero, some fairy tale bliss. Someone I can talk to, somebody I can kiss, I want something just like this." He continues, not breaking eye contact with her.
Nathan gets really into the song, dancing around on the stage, and the crowd is loving it, especially Anna, who shouldn't be loving it.
"Oh, I want something just like this..." He finishes, everyone cheers as he walks off stage, approaching Anna again. "Well?" He asks.
"Nathan... I loved it!" She says, tearing up as he hugs her.
"I'm glad you loved it, I've been wanting to sing for you for awhile now..." They each get a glass of water to calm the alcohol down. "Hey, what did you need to talk about?" Anna's heart drops.
"Oh, uhm... Nothing big, I'm just getting a promotion at work already! Your brother is being very generous..." Anna lies but Nathan smiles.
"That's amazing! I'm glad he is taking our relationship better now..." Nathan says, kissing her.
"Yeah, me too..."
~
"Goodnight, beautiful." Nathan says before driving away. Anna immediately gets in her car and heads to Robert's house.
Robert opens the door, seeing Anna looking upset on his doorstep. "What's wrong, baby?" He asks, concerned. She walks in, not saying anything and embracing him. "Honey?"
"I couldn't tell him..." She simply states.
"You couldn't tell him?" Robert questions.
"He brought me to a karaoke bar, and as soon as I was going to spit it out, he went up on stage and sang me a fucking song! He dedicated one of my favorite songs to me Robert, and fucking sang it in front of a room full of people!" Anna starts crying and Robert shushes her and rubs her back.
"It's okay, baby... I'm in no rush, as long as we can see each other outside of work somehow, I'm okay..." He tries to make her feel better.
"Are you sure? I don't to keep you waiting if you want me to just break it off with him..."
"Anna, honey, I love you, and I know you really like Nathan so I'm fine with it and I understand that it will be hard for you to just end it with him, so I'm willing to wait." Anna looks at him.
"Thank you for understanding, Robert..." She kisses him.
"Let's get you to bed."
