Alicia and Roy had spent the last few days apartment hunting in between work. Things weren't going that well, and Matt was getting more and more anxious by the day. Alicia was so relieved that her birthday visit for him was just at the right moment because she knew he was dying to get on a flight back to LA to try and fix everything himself.
She anxiously sat in the back of the Uber that was taking her to the hotel they were staying at. Matt thought he was sharing the room with Ameer and Ashlan, but Ian had booked an extra room for them without telling him. Today was his birthday, and it was also Valentine's Day, so they had spend the day drinking and eating room service to celebrate.
Alicia practically jumped out of the Uber and into the hotel. She was really excited to see everyone. It had been a while and she loved the energy while on tour. She went up the elevator and practically ran down the hallway, knocking loudly on the door. She smiled widely as Matt opened it, completely shocked when he saw her. Matt was pretty tipsy, but he completely sobered up the second he saw her.
He smiled widely, pulling her into his arms and hugging her tightly. She hugged him back, hiding her face in his neck happily. Matt pulled away just enough to meet his lips with hers. She kissed him back passionately, resting her hand on his chest.
"Happy birthday, baby." She mumbled, bumping her nose against his. He pecked her lips lightly before pulling her in for a second hug.
"I literally can't believe you're here." He smiled, grabbing her suitcase and dragging it inside. Everyone screamed excitedly when she walked in the room, attacking her with hugs.
"I missed you guys!" Alicia yelled, laughing as Romil was screaming and hugging her.
"Alright, we're all really drunk so you've gotta catch up." Andrea smirked, passing her a shot.
They danced along to music, drinking and having a really good time together. Andrea and Joba jumped along to Kendrick, yelling out the lyrics and laughing.
Jaden and Ian were making out on the couch, Ameer and Merlyn were having a dance off, and Rob and Jon were arguing about what song to play next. Matt and Alicia stood off to the side, smoking from a dab pen and laughing at the spectacle in front of them.
"Hey, come get some air with me." Alicia smiled, reaching down and grabbing Matt's hand. They walked out onto the balcony which had a really nice view.
Matt hugged Alicia from behind, resting his chin on top of her head. She leaned back against his chest, placing her hands on top of his. They looked out at the city around them, both enjoying each other's company.
"So, I wanted to give you your present in private." Alicia smiled, turning to face him. Matt placed his hands on either side of her on the railing,
"Wait, that sounded a lot more sexual than what I meant." Alicia laughed, hiding her face on his chest. Matt chuckled, kissing the top of her head.
"Okay, this is so cheesy, but I kinda made you a song." Alicia admitted, blushing and looking up at him.
"You didn't!" Matt yelled, throwing his head back in laughter.
"I know, out of character."
"Aw, I've made you so soft."
"Shut up or I won't let you hear it."
"No, I'll stop." He laughed, lifting her chin and connecting his lips with hers.
Alicia pulled away, looking down at her phone quickly before biting her lip and sending it to him.
"Okay, you can listen to that while I go get your actual gift. I don't want to watch you listen to it because I'm scared."
Matt laughed and shook his head, sitting down on the chair outside and playing the song out. His heart instantly warmed as he heard her sing, as he listened to every lyric intently. He was pretty crossed and knew he would have to give it another listen when he was sober, but it still meant a lot to him that she had done this for him. He couldn't help but smile as he heard the song through, laughing as she referenced their little inside jokes.
Once the song was over, Alicia emerged from the room with a large box in her hands.
"I love you so much." Matt said happily, engulfing her in his arms as she put the box down.
"You liked it?"
"I loved it. What's this?" He wondered, pulling away and raising an eyebrow.
She handed him the box, crossing her arms as she watched him sit down and unwrap it. She had gotten him the skate deck he had loved from Atlanta, his face instantly lighting up in recognition.
"Holy shit, you remembered?"
"I ordered it as soon as I got back to LA." Alicia shrugged, smiling at how excited he was.
"Wow, I'm really out here with the best girl in the fucking world."
"Shut up."
"Come here." Matt mumbled, putting the board back in the box and moving it to the floor. She sat on his lap, hiding her face in his neck as he kissed the top of her head.
"Happy birthday, Matt." Alicia whispered, kissing his neck softly. He had his hand on the side of her leg, closing his eyes as he rested his head against hers. He felt so fucking lucky that his life was going this well. Everything was working out perfectly.
"Happy Valentine's Day, by the way." Matt laughed, making Alicia giggle. She took out her phone, opening her camera and taking cheesy pictures with him. He scrolled through his Instagram before deciding to post one of her in Atlanta, sticking out her middle finger at him playfully, and captioning it "mami's first valentines". Alicia laughed, shaking her head.
"People are gonna think we're weird."
"We are weird."
"You've ruined my image you rat." Alicia joked, Matt laughing loudly.
"My bad, punch me in the face."
"Break my legs first."
The two of them looked at each other with a straight face before bursting into laughter. They listened to music and talked for a while. They didn't realize how long they had stayed out on the balcony until they saw the sun starting to rise.
"Fuck, we should probably go to sleep." Alicia sighed, standing from Matt's lap and stretching put her limbs with a groan.
"Let's watch the sun rise." Matt shrugged, standing by the edge of the balcony. They leaned against each other, looking out at the city as the sky's colors changed.
