Andrea was stunned into silence as Matt stood from the chair, walking over to the doorway. She didn't know what to do in this situation. She didn't want Alicia to get hurt. She quickly made her way back to Joba's room, closing the door behind her.
"So, Jade's here." Andrea said quietly, crossing her arms.
"Wait, what?" asked Joba, looking up from his laptop.
"We were in the middle of talking about where he's at and she showed up at the door."
"Oh fuck."
"Exactly."
"What did he say?" Joba asked, closing his laptop. Andrea plopped down on the bed next to him with a sigh.
"He said that Alicia is great and all but that he doesn't want to lose their friendship to be with her."
"Who says he has to?"
"Ugh, I don't know. But I also don't want to assume that Alicia looks at him that way. She's his friend and I don't want to like ruin anything for him and Jade and like create a false opportunity with Alicia."
"I usually stay out of these things, but Matt is like my brother and to be honest, I don't want him to get hurt again."
"I think I have to talk to Alicia." Andrea sighed, sitting up and putting her head in her hands.
"I think you should."
Andrea groaned, pulling out her phone and Facetiming Alicia.
"Hey lady." Alicia said, appearing on the screen with a large smile.
"Hey, can I talk to you about something?" Andrea asked, biting her lip nervously.
"Yeah, is everything okay?" Alicia asked, concern evident in her face.
"Yeah, everything's fine. I need to talk to you about Matt."
"Is he actually mad? I told him I was moving to NYC as a joke but I don't know if I took it too far." Alicia giggled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I don't know what you're talking about. How do you feel about Matt?"
"Andrea, how many times are you gonna ask me the same fucking thing? I already said we're just friends." Alicia muttered, clearly annoyed.
"So you're not interested in anything more with him?"
"Can a guy and a girl not be friends? Andrea, I don't need to be in a relationship to be happy."
"I'm not saying that! I'm just trying to make sure-"
"Like I get that you're happy with Joba but like, don't try to make me feel bad because I'm alone."
"Holy fuck! Can you shut up for a fucking second?" Andrea yelled, exasperated with Alicia talking over her.
"Fine."
"Matt and his ex are talking again."
"Oh."
"That's why I'm asking, because if you'd open your fucking eyes and realize what everyone else sees, you can stop him before it's too late."
"Andrea, I don't know. He's my friend, I don't want that to go away." Alicia sighed, putting her head in her hands.
"What if he hurts her again?"
"He's an adult, he has to make that decision for himself."
"You remember how closed off he used to be. Do you want to see him like that again? What if that ruins your friendship?" Andrea questioned, looking at Joba from the corner of her eye. He took her hand and squeezed it supportively.
