The night Chris got back, Eddie climbed over to Chris apartment and knocked on the glass doors, seeing Chris' eyes light up when he saw eddie's face like a kid on Christmas made Eddie chuckle. Chris wasted no time in letting Eddie inside and giving him the biggest hug. "I missed you so much, baby" Chris sighed and Eddie smiled "I'm so happy to see you." Eddie said he wanted to sleep over, and Chris said it was okay. They were both exhausted, and fell asleep nuzzled against eachother.
Eddie woke up startled to the sound of Chris screaming for help desperately to see Chris mother trying to drag him out of the room by his hair "what the hell did I tell you Christopher, I fucking warned you!" She must have picked the lock this morning to get in, Eddie realized. Chris was crying and kicking at nothing and Eddie stood there wide eyed not knowing how to react, his nails digging into his palms until he launched himself forward, and with strength he didn't know he had, ripped Chris away from his mother's iron grip, dragging his boyfriend by his hand out the front door and into eddie's apartment, Eddie knew what he was getting into but he didn't care, he needed Chris to be safe away from his mother, who clearly was violent and plain awful. He wondered how somebody as sweet as Chris could end up with a mother like her.
Eddie's mother was sitting right at the kitchen table reading when she turned to face Eddie with a shocked and confused face, which soon turned to anger "what the fuck, Eddie!? What's wrong with you? I fucking told you about him, and of course you betrayed me!" Chris cried a little harder, and Eddie squeezed his hand a little bit tighter. Eddie's heart was going to rip out of his chest, he was petrified beyond belief. Eddie's mothers eyes traveled lower from eddie's eyes to the two boys interlocked hands, and her gaze softened just a little bit. "Sit down, boys." She let out a defeated sigh and pointed to the couch, Eddie sat down still holding Chris' hand. His mother sat down in the chair on the wall next to the couch "explain this, Eddie." "All of it?" He shuddered visibly "most of it, yes." His mom replied rubbing her temples, Eddie and Chris looked at her wide eyed and gulped "uh, that night when you asked me to take out the garbage, he came out of his apartment at the exact same time and we talked for a while. That night, when I went to look at the sky, he was there. And we started talking every night. That's what was going on, when I was acting strange. I think I was falling for him, and I was scared, knowing what could happen if I told you." Eddie leaned his head on Chris shoulder and Chris eyes went to the floor. "It's okay, I think I was wrong all along, Eddie. I'm really sorry Eddie, and you too, Christopher. I misjudged you. You have to leave right now, your mother has a very dangerous temper, and I'm afraid of what can happen to you boys. Don't worry, she comes looking and I'll tell her you two weren't here, or I just wasn't home. I'm only upset how you didn't tell me and open up, but I get why you did that. You treat eachother well?" Eddie was dumbfounded at how easily his mother took this, and they both nodded in unison "Mom, why did you lie to me about Chris all these years?" His mother looked guilty now, and tucked her lip under her teeth, gazing down at the floor. "I'm just now realizing how incredibly stupid this sounds... I told you all of those lies as a mutual agreement between Christophers mother and me. Christophers father was a criminal, dangerous, not anything petty. When Christopher was little and so was Eddie, we were both afraid that he could have inherited some of his father's evil, so we said that we would never let you see eachother. Christophers mom was scared if he had, he would drag Eddie down with him. That's why, Christopher, your mother went so far to tell you the little boy nextdoor was evil, and I, sadly enough, did the same. I'm so, so sorry boys. I was the evil one and not you, I judged a little boy by the actions of his father. Fate or something obviously led you together, I mean, look at you two!" His mother tried to sound cheerful at that last part, but obviously felt horrible about her actions. Chris' thumb rubbed the back of Eddies hand soothingly as the lump in their throats became uncomfortable. Chris was about to cry, and so was Eddie, and by the looks of it, his mom was about to as well. He let this whole morning sink in, he had to LEAVE? What did that mean? "I love you, mom." Eddie choked out, and Eddies mom sniffled, "i love you too, Eddie." Chris kissed eddie's forehead.
