Holiday
"Be careful out there, mio caro." Agnella said as she pulled Maeryn into a close hug. Maeryn answered Agnella's embrace, knowing it would be the very last time. "I will Agnella. I promise." Maeryn said before slowly letting go, feeling the tears burn behind her eyes. Adolfo quickly pulled the girl into a tight embrace, feeling sad but proud at the same time of Maeryn. Adolfo gently kissed her forehead in a fatherly way before letting her go, without him knowing would be forever.
Alec watched the scene play while waiting with Maeryn's and his suitcases. A slight pang of guilt filling his stomach. He knew she was giving up her new family for his. But at the same time, he felt impatient. He knew he would have to wait a little longer, yet he felt very impatient. He wanted to protect her. Every day they spend with her being a human, it was a day closer to a possible human death.
Alec got pulled out of his thoughts when Agnella pulled him into an embrace. Feeling slightly uncomfortable, Alec patted her back slightly. "Have fun. And take care of each other." Agnella said as she released him. Alec nodded his head. "Don't worry. I will take care of her." He said as he gently wrapped his arm around Maeryn's waist. "Have fun! See you in two weeks!" Agnella said as Maeryn and Alec made their way towards security.
Maeryn quickly wiped a tear away, but Alec had seen it. "Are you alright, amore mio?" he asked while he gently stroked her cheek with his hand. Maeryn nodded her head. "Yeah. It just hurts, saying goodbye knowing it will be the last time." Maeryn explained. "But I know it needs to be done before I welcome my new life." Maeryn said as she gently pecked his lips quickly. Alec smiled. "Come on. We have a holiday to go too." He said as he grabbed her hand into his and went through security.

The airplane trip had been quite annoying for Alec, as the couple was in a quite packed airplane and the man next to him annoyed him by flirting with his mate. Alec growled lowly as the man next to him offered Maeryn a drink once more. Mearyn smiled politely yet felt also quite annoyed. "No thank you." She replied as she felt Alec's annoyance increase. She gently placed her hand over his cold one, trying to calm him down slightly. Alec sighed softly and lifted the armrest that kept him and his mate separated. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, burying his face into her neck, taking in het sweet scent. It calmed him down but also made the fire in his throat burn fiercer. Mearyn smiled and let him calm down while she continued reading her book. She had always loved reading, but ever since she met Alec her love for books had increased. Sometimes, when she couldn't sleep, he would read to her. Many books where written many centuries ago and Alec helped her to understand the use of the old English language.
"Next time we are going on a holiday, we are taking the private jet." Alec murmured in her neck. Maeryn giggled softly. "Only an hour left. Hang in there." She whispered back to him. The reason why they flew with a commercial airplane was due to their story that they had told to Agnella and Adolfo. Alec and Jane where adopted by Heidi's parents, who had sadly passed away. But the parents had left enough money for them to continue their educations and live in the village. Of course they didn't have enough money for a private jet. So to keep the story plausible, they were traveling by commercial jet.
"I know, but this is still a pain to endure." He whispered back into her neck. "I know." Maeryn replied, but truth be told she didn't. Well at least not yet. "Hmm." Alec said against her neck, with a slightly naughty idea in his head as he gently started to nibble on her neck, making sure his fangs wouldn't pierce her delicate skin. Maeryn gasped slightly and immediately froze in her seat. Alec smirked and ran his cold tongue across her vein in her neck. Maeryn bit her lip and her grip on the book tightened. Alec felt quite satisfied and placed once last kiss on her neck before moving away, a small grin playing around his lips, while a bright blush was displayed on Maeryn's cheeks and her heartbeat had increased.

Maeryn's blush still remained on her cheeks when Alec and her had gotten into a taxi that drove them to the very far and almost inhabited part of the island. The taxi stopped infront of a small house. It was two stories high and was white, just like all the other buildings on this island. It had a white roof and on the second floor was a balcony. In the backyard of the house was a swimming pool and a small path down towards a small private part of the beach, barricaded off by black, volcanic rocks.
Alec paid the driver and carried both their suitcases inside the house. Maeryn followed him and found that inside was as beautiful yet simple as the outside. The first floor had a kitchen and a living room, both open as one space. Upstairs was a master bedroom where the balcony was, a bathroom and a walk in closet.
Alec placed Maeryn's suitcase onto the bed and walked towards her, pulling her close in his embrace. "I'll be back soon. I'm going to hunt. You can go unpack. I believe there is some food and beverages in the fridge." He whispered as he pecked her lips gently. Maeryn smiled and looked into his almost onyx like eyes. "Alright. Be careful." She replied. Alec smiled and pulled his hood up as it was very sunny outside. "Always am." He said before jumping off of the balcony and disappearing into the shadows.
Maeryn sighed and started to unpack her suitcase as well his. Afterwards she went for a nice and relaxing bath in the bathroom, making sure to shave and smell nicely. After washing she continued to stay in bath and read her book, not noticing Alec's return. A gentle knock brought her back to reality. "Maeryn?" Alec's melodic voice came through from the other side of the door. "Yes. Sorry, I was reading. I will be there in a minute." She replied while getting out and drying herself off. "No rush, amore mio." He replied while he laid down onto the bed, waiting for Maeryn to finish. Maeryn quickly put on a summer dress and brushed her hair and teeth before braiding her hair in a loose braid. Maeryn watched her own reflection in the mirror and felt satisfied enough with the result. She would be going to bed soon anyway, so make-up was not needed.
Maeryn unlocked the bathroom door and walked towards the bedroom, finding Alec reading. He looked up and smiled. Maeryn smiled back and sat down next to him in the bed. "How was your hunt?" Alec shrugged his shoulders and placed the book on the nightstand beside him. "Not that interesting." He said as he wrapped his arms around her waist and placed her onto his lap. "Actually quite boring. You weren't hunting with me." He whispered as his lips found her neck. Maeryn blushed and bit her lip. "Only a month and a half to go." She replied. "I know. But even though I have lived for a thousand years, those month and a half feels like eternity." He replied, leaving small butterfly kisses up and down her neck. Maeryn giggled. "You are quite and impatient man." She replied. "Impatient. Selfish. All of that. But mostly possessive." He replied growling playfully into her ear. Maeryn giggled once more. Alec smirked against her neck and quickly found her lips with his own. Maeryn smiled and replied his kiss immediately. Sadly, he broke away soon enough looking into her gray-green eyes with his now bright burgundy eyes. "Come on. I'll cook you something." He said as he picked Maeryn up bridal style and make his way towards the kitchen. Maeryn wrapped her arms around his neck. "You know how to cook?" She asked surprised. Alec smiled sheepishly. "Master Aro thought me a few recipes before we came her. Don't spread this but, he loves cooking." Alec said. Maeryn laughed softly as the image of a cooking Aro came into her head. But on the other hand, she found it also plausible to believe.

In the end, Alec's cooking was quite delicious. He had made her a simple pasta salad with a glass of red wine, while he sipped onto a small class of human blood. Strangely enough it didn't make Maeryn feel nauseous, however, she concentrated on her food more than concentrating on Alec drinking his blood.
