Hello again

Another 4 years passed, and today Maeryn was finally ready to go to high school along with the other Cullens. Alice had picked out Maeryn's outfit and had done her hair and make-up. Not that it really mattered. With the beauty of a vampire she could be walking around in rags and still be mesmerizing. "And I am done. Let's go." Alice said as she skipped out of Maeryn's room with Maeryn close behind her. It was nerve wrecking. Maeryn hadn't been close to humans in decades. And the only time she would be close if she was hunting, but now she had to leave every human alone and not think about their delicious blood beneath their fragile skin. Maeryn shook her head and concentrated on keeping her emotions under control. Of course, Edward could read her thoughts and Jasper her emotions, so if anything where to happen they could drag Maeryn away quickly.

Maeryn stepped out of Emmett's car and looked around the school parking lot. The smell of fresh human blood hit her hard and she could feel her eyes go from gold to black. But then a soothing feeling came over her and Maeryn felt her eyes go back to their original colour. "Thanks Jasper." She whispered. Jasper nodded his head before following his brothers and sisters inside the building. Maeryn followed as well, noticing everyone staring at her. Maeryn walked to the small office where she received her schedule and additional notes she had to give to all her teachers to sign and which she had to hand back in at the end of the day. "Have a good day, sweetie." The woman behind the desk said kindly. "Thank you." Maeryn said and tried to say it kindly before walking out of the door. Maeryn looked at her schedule:

First period: Home room
Second period: English
Third period: Math
Lunch
Fourth period: Economy class
Fifth period: American history
Sixth period: European history

Not too bad, Maeryn thought as she made her way to her first period.

Well, it was bad. All those warm humans so close to her. Many young men trying to wrap their arms around her shoulders, making it so difficult for Maeryn to not bite down and drain the entire school. Jasper had tried to calm Maeryn down as much as he could and thankfully it was lunchtime soon. Maeryn grabbed a sandwich, an apple and a water bottle from the canteen and followed her siblings to their usual table. Maeryn sat down with her back to the other students, facing the window. Still holding her breath as much as possible, she started playing with her food. "You are doing perfectly fine, Maeryn. It is difficult and I promise, with more practice it will get easier." Edward said softly. Maeryn smiled weakly at him, afraid that if she opened her mouth even further the smell of blood would make her go crazy. "Three more periods and that is it." Alice said. Maeryn nodded her head and took a small sip of water and cringed a little at the taste of it. Nothing but blood tasted good to her. Maeryn no longer wanted to have the ponytail in her hair that Alice put in this morning, so she removed the hairband and let her golden brown hair fall down her back in their natural waves. Suddenly Edward chuckled. Maeryn was the only one to look up confused. "Many guys are going crazy over what you just did." Maeryn groaned softly. "Seriously, they are pathetic." She whispered back. The bell rang and the Cullens threw away their lunches and made their way to the other classes."

Once home, Maeryn finally took a deep breath of fresh air, tasting the forest around her. "Finally." She said in a satisfied tone. Emmett chuckled and walked inside, followed by the others and finally Maeryn closing the line. Once inside they saw Esme and Carlisle looking serious and a small girl with long, pale brown hair was sitting with her back towards the door. Emmett, Jasper and Bella all got ready to attack and Maeryn was confused. The smell was so very familiar. The girl turned her head around and Maeryn was met with a couple of blood red eyes. "Jane?" Maeryn said confused and shocked. Jane smiled and hugged Maeryn tightly. Maeryn slowly hugged her back, still not knowing what was going on, or if this was real. "I can't believe that you are alive! Where have you been all this time?" Maeryn asked. "Here and there, trying to find the remaining Volturi members. Guess what, Aro never killed Didyme. She was kept in the dungeons all this time and no one knew. So of course Marcus is happy again. Felix and Demetri are back and we have made a few new guards to rebuild the Volturi castle. I am here actually to invite you all for a debate, regarding the safety of vampires and the rules." Jane said looking at Carlisle. "And what might that be, Jane?" Carlisle said. "Marcus would like the Volturi to be the guards of the vampires again, the protection of our secret is important, but this time it will be different. The leaders of the different covens will decide along with us which rules we will follow." Jane said, clearly no longer under the impression that Aro was the greatest. Carlisle smiled politely. "I will make sure my family and I will be there. When do you wish us to leave?" he said. "As soon as possible. The plane is already waiting for us." "Then we will pack our bags this instant." Esme said, as so the Cullens did and within no time they were on the plane to Volterra.

Maeryn walked through the halls, following Jane who had a small smirk around her full lips. The Cullens had arrived a few hours ago and while Maeryn was unpacking her stuff in the room that used to be hers, Jane had walked in, telling her she wanted to show Maeryn the new castle. "Okay, close your eyes." Jane said. Maeryn was a little sceptic but she did it anyway. Jane guided her into a room and closed the door. "keep them close!" she warned before walking away. Maeryn sighed but obeyed. Suddenly a very familiar smell hit her nose and she almost couldn't believe it. She didn't want to believe it. A cold breath hit her neck while strong arms wrapped themselves around her waist. A small gasp left her lips as cold and familiar lips where placed on her bare shoulder. Maeryn couldn't keep her eyes closed anymore. They opened up wide and she turned around, breaking away from the person's grip. There he was. Just as handsome as she could remember. Brown hair, pale skin, toned body, half full lips and those eyes. She saved those for last. His beautiful burgundy eyes that looked at her with passion and love. "A-alec?" she asked, not believing her own senses for a minute. "Hello again, my love." Maeryn jumped into his arms and held him close, afraid that if she would let go he would disappear again. "Never leave me again." She whispered softly. Alec wrapped his arms even tighter around her waist. "Never again." He said before placing his lips on hers once more and both their hearts mended fully in that moment.
