Caretaker Protector

Refocusing my thought, I move my gaze again, to rest it on the two newly arrived caretakers who are making their way towards me. By their behavior, I identify them. It is always obvious and the same. They walk sluggishly, shoulders sagging, quiet, withdrawn, fear and insecurity in their eyes. Unsure of what outcome awaits them here. Then they find their place within our pack and blossom. Some stay in our nursery to become caretakers for others, newly arriving wulves. Others discover they possess mystic abilities and joined Tia's school. Yet others show signs of being fierce protectors, joining the Elite Protection Academy studying there.

Yet all say the same thing to me or my Mima (mother in law). Finally, they have come to understand and are proud to feel what it means to feel true happiness in their home. For they are home. Their love and appreciation always grow immensely for Alpha, Luna, Beta, and Robert. The quartet who are forever showing up at the care center helping with the newly arrived wulves.

I see my Lolita "Loli" who was once, one of the arrivals. She was 15 when she arrived last year. But, as she too blossomed she became so much more to my mate tito and I. She is our angel. Loli is the sister to one of my adopted cubs. Coming home with us from a conference and the best caretaker we have. At Carmen's offer (which Loli jumped at) and for the safety of the cubs, Lolita became a student at the Elite Training Academy studying under her uncle Robert.

To me, she is like a little sister I never had. She relates easily, to all the new arrivals. Who usually ends up shadowing her closely, learning and helping her with the duties till they gain confidence within themselves. For anyone foolish enough to threaten the cubs or the new arrivals, which have to date, only been four. Loli becomes their ICU ticket.

Thank the Goddess, This happened only once. Back when our territory was under construction, Loli saw four contractors laughing at a newly arrived Omega picking up her things off the ground. She had been carrying her things as she looked for the caretaker unit until she was tripped. The previous Omega said nothing and quietly kneeled down to pick up her things. Loli walked over, stopped the new arrival from continuing to pick up her scattered things.

Restraining her mounting anger, she asked the contractor politely, to pick up the items he causes the new arrival to drop. The wulf stood up laughed at her then poked her in the arm telling her how she was going to make him do that. Being thin framed, Loli did not look like a threat. But It ended with Loli giving them a vacation for the next 5 months in the Intensive Care Unit.

Loli broke their right legs, arms, and elbows aside from clawing all of them pretty badly. But for the one who started it all? It was far worse. He will forever be forced to remember his injustice. Scarred for life by no longer having the use of his right eye thanks to Loli's claws. Needless to say, when they got out of the infirmary, they avoid new arrivals entirely. It was when this happened Delta approached us at Beta's approval, offering to have Lolita trained to be an elite warrior for the pack. No one thought of the reason behind it, except Beta.

Looking at Titi, who was the one who made the suggestion to both Beta and Delta on Loli's behalf. She too had see what happened telling Beta "She is powerful and doesn't know it"

I look at Mama Alpha "huh?"

"did you see what Loli did to those contractors?"

"No mama. But I am goin to find out why!" Mama words stop me before I take another step.

"She is a protector baby. Make her one." My pride at what I see in Lolita growing. Causing my chest to expand.

At her words, I turn my gaze fully on Loli asking"Mama. Is there something special in Loli?". I've learned Mama can be cryptic when sometin big gonna happen which she saw in a vision. She doesn't answer me, however. Instead, she turns away from me beginning to head to the school. Head looking to where she steps, mama alpha starts passing me saying "Mijo you will see for yourself. Just do what I say for now ok"

I decide to friendly challenge my mother. Raising my left eyebrow with a quirk in my voice "Mama I am the Beta gurl. you can't be given me orders like you still Alpha."

Reaching flat dirt walking away from me. Mama turns her head halfway to me and smirks "True. But as the only woman who will beat your big black ass. You will do as I say. BYYYEEE" twiddling her fingers in the air to me. causing me to laugh.

Laughing. I wonder... Mama never had all dat witty sass before hmmmmm, I wonder where she gets that sass from?
