Chapter Twenty-nine: You’ve got that one thing.

(Audrie is One year old!)

“You ready for a sleep over at Uncle Harry and Aunty Britt’s house?” Lou asked propping Audrie on his hip, kissing her on the forehead, her hand wrapping around his finger.

“Yes!” She said flinging her arms around his neck giving him a big hug. I was busy packing her little fairy bag with her nappies and pyjamas, when there was a knock at the door.

“Guess who’s here!” I said packing the last of her stuff and zipping it up handing Lou the bag while taking Audrie off of Lou. “You’re going to be a good girl aren’t you?” I asked, fixing up her cute little chequered dress she had on and sliding on her pink ballet flats that she loved, with glitter all over them.

“Yes mummy” she smiled.

“Give me a kiss?” I turned my head to the side so she could give me a kiss on the cheek.

“Mwah!”

“That was a big one!” I laughed, giving her a kiss on the forehead as Harry, Britt and Lou walked in.

“Aren’t you beautiful?” Harry said taking her off of me and giving her a kiss. “You ready to go?” He asked with the biggest smile on his face, he really loved little Audrie.

“Almost!” I said, handing her her little stuffed Zebra that Lou won her at a fair we went to.

“I wuv you mummy!” Audrie gave me a big hug, before leaning over to Lou. “I wuv you daddy!” She gave him a big hug as well.

“We love you too!” We both gave her a kiss before handing her to Britt, as they walked out to Harry’s car, which already had a booster seat in it because he insisted that he should perminately have one just incase there was an emergency! Audrie waved goodbye, with her palm facing her like she was waving to herself, as she got into the car. Lou put his arm around my waist, giving me a kiss on the cheek, as we waved goodbye to our beautiful baby girl.

“Our first night without our little Audrie!” I said giving Lou a big hug before we walked back inside.

“Yep, and we’re just going to chill out here, a quiet night here, yeah?”

“Yeah.” I smiled, leaning my head on his shoulder, snuggling up on our couch next to the open fire place which lit up the room, it’s light dancing in every corner, heating up the whole room, like the warm summer sun. We turned on the TV to watch the Iron men movies, I made popcorn and he made hot strawberry, like the good old times.

“I love you.” I snuggled up to him, with my head on his shoulder, his arm around me.

“I love you too, beautiful” He smiled, snuggling back.

When the movies finished I reheated the pasta I had cooked early and served it up for Lou and I. We walked upstairs to sit on the balcony and watch the waves in the moonlight. We cuddled up on the bench together, with the gas heater blaring, watching the waves, it was so relaxing.

“You know, you’re so beautiful.” Lou started, putting down our bowls on the floor next to the bench.  “You’re so perfect, the way you smile when you feel awkward, the way you laugh, the way your nose screws up when you smell Audrie’s nappy, the way your nostrils flare when you’re angry, the way your eyes sparkle when you’re proud of something, the way you say Boo and I don’t hate it. I love your eyes, I love your nose. I love your hair. I love your lips. Baby, if I was to list everything I loved about you, I would run out of time, because I love everything about you.” I could tell where this was leading, and I have wanted this forever.

He started to sing “Moments” to me, as he got down on one knee, looking into my eyes, his deep blue eyes, looking straight into mine, taking my hands in his. “You know, whenever I sing this song, I think of you and me, and how we broke up, and how we got back together, and before you go and think that I’m being all stupid and making a fool of myself… My beautiful, Sydney Phillips, you light up my world like no body else, it’s gotta be you, I love everything about you, and I want to spend every last one moment of my life with you,  you have taken my breath away, and you have given me everything I want. I promise you we won’t make the same mistakes we did when we broke up the first time. Your beauty is from another world,  and you stole my heart, you’ve got that one thing, and baby, I wish, that you will be my one and only, my wife, my lover, my best friend.  See what I did there?” He giggled, looking down for a second, then looking back up again said.

“Sydney Phillips, will you marry me?” Lou pulled out a massive diamond ring, and smiled up at me.

“Of course I will marry you!” He slid the ring on my finger, and it slid on perfectly.

“It can’t be for a while, because we have our tour, but baby you’re my everything, and I don’t want anyone else.” I flung my arms around his neck, admiring my ring.

“I don’t care how long we have to wait, I love you, and I will love you, forever and always.”
