Chapter Twenty-Five: Expressionless.

When everyone finally left, Lou and I made ourselves chicken and vegetables for dinner, and ate it around the candle-lit table admiring our work.

“Thank you so much, I love it.” I smiled, taking another mouthful.

“Anything for my princess.” Lou smiled back. When we finished, we plunked the dishes in the dishwasher and Lou led me upstairs and into our room, and onto our balcony. I looked up into the sky to see a shooting star. “One thing we didn’t do on our bucket list, was wish on a star.” Lou pointed out. “Make a wish!” He kissed me on the forehead.

“I wish…” I could have just one baby. I finished off in my head, I wonder if he wished for the same thing. Louis leaned in and kissed me, and his hands started wondering, it felt good but I didn’t think he would just jump into it like this, but I guess he wants one just as bad. He slid his hands under the back of my top to unhinge my bra and start to take off my top.

“Not here.” I said pulling him inside onto our massive king bed.  I quickly closed the curtains before returning to him, he quickly pulled of my shirt and bra leaving me bare chested. I kicked off my shoes and so did he as I pulled off his shirt too.  Our hands were wondering, as we kissed in perfect time. Lou’s hands slowly wondered down to my zip and slowly unzipped it, and unbuttoned it, pulling them down slowly along with my underwear.  I stepped out quickly, unzipping his and sliding his off too. I ran my fingers through his hair, as his ran all over my body, it felt nice.

“I love you.” Was all he said before our first attempt at starting a family. I fell into a deep sleep from such a long day, my head was on his chest and his arms were around me, as I drifted off to sleep to the sound of our lullaby, which slowly drifted off as my mind drifted off to nothingness.

I dreamt about Lou and I, and our little baby girl at a park. It was so beautiful, she was sitting up on her own and her and Lou were playing with blocks. Then I zoomed into the future of her first steps, Lou was on one side, as she held his fingers in her tiny little hands, propping herself up, while I called her from the other side and she stumbled over to me, and I gave her a massive hug. I zoomed into the future even more. It was her first day of school, and she’s in her cute little school dress, and her backpack, skipping into school on her first day, with all her little friends, waving goodbye to Lou and I.

-          Three weeks later –

“You should have checked the date on the milk!” Lou pointed out holding my hair back from my face, rubbing my back as I threw up the entire contents of my stomach. When I finally finished I closed the lid and flushed the toilet and sat on it.

“It didn’t even get to my stomach, I put the cereal in my mouth and it tasted rank and bam! Here I am. Sorry you had to see that…” I mumbled, getting up to brush my teeth.

“It’s not your fault.” He smiled kissing me on the forehead. “We’ve tried like constantly, when can we do the test again?”

“When we’re sure I’ve missed it.” I mumbled through my toothbrush causing bubbles to start floating everywhere. I tried popping them before they hit the mirror but it didn’t work, looks like I would have to clean that up later.

“Missed what?” Louis asked confused, hugging me around the waist watching me brush my teeth in the mirror.

“My period you idiot.” I groaned after spitting out the toothpaste, and gargling some Listerine, then giving Lou a big kiss to test if it smelled better. He didn’t pull away so that’s a plus.

“Oh… Right…” It was clear he definitely felt like an idiot. “Have you?”

“Uh… It usually comes on the 6th and that was two days ago. But, mine sometimes just miss a day or two. I didn’t want to get excited then you know, disappointed.”

“Well, if you miss by a day there’s a possibility?” He urged.

“True…” I started thinking about all the things I had googled over the past couple of weeks.

“And you threw up this morning…” He pointed out, gabbing my hand in his.

“True… Oh my God… “ I squeezed his hand lightly as I realised the possibility.

“What are you waiting for!” Lou asked excited as ever, jumping up off the toilet seat and grabbing the pregnancy test from inside the cupboard.

-7 minutes later-

“Okay, so, on the count of three…” Louis said as I squeezed his hand super tight. I was so excited. This could definitely be it. I could finally become a mum.

“If I am, we won’t tell people until at least three months.” I pointed out.

“I don’t care baby, let’s just find out!” He asked anxiously.

“I don’t want you to be too excited, I could have just thrown up because I’m anxious at the moment…”

“I will still love you all the same, beautiful.” He kissed me on the cheek. Squeezing my hand back lightly.

“Okay, on the count of three.” I kissed Lou on the cheek, sitting on his lap so we could both see the result at the same time.

“Two…” Lou continued, pulling me in tight by the waist. He was definitely as anxious as me.

“Three!” I turned the test over to reveal the results, and I just stared, dumb struck. I had prepared myself for this, but now that it’s happened I didn’t know if I could deal with it. I looked back at Lou and he was expressionless.
