I was in the waiting room when my brothers came in. They were sweating and worried. The only thing that confused me, was that Justin was there.
"Jess, you should come home with us."
I was still crying. Jonathan picked me up and carried me. I closed my eyes to the lights and just cried.
ADAM'S POV
Shit. What the hell did I just do?
I called her brothers and told them the memo and now I was in the most hardest fight of my life. Justin hit hard and he wasn' showing any mercy.
"Why in the fucking hell did you not go with her! You are such a dumbass!"
He threw a flying punch to my face and it knocked me down. I knew what he was saying was true. Jess's dogs were going crazy inside the house.
"Justin, I know everything you are saying is so true. Please, can I just go see her now?"
He grumbled. He walked to his truck and I followed while my lip was bleeding. I didn't care right now. All I knew was thar somewhere, Jess was crying and I didn't help at all. I made everything worse. She hated being alone and I knew it. And in a time like this? Was even worse.
We drove and by now, I realized we weren't going to the hospital.
"Where the hell are we going?"
"My house."
"Why?"
He growled. "Mom's dead. I took Jess back to my house."
That hit me hard. She died and I wasn't there. I met her mother once and she had no clue why I was there or anything. I did this to Jess and I will never live it down.
We reached a small one story house. It was white and cozy. I walked in the dimly lit house with Justin not far behind. I hear it before I see it.
Jess is sitting on her brother's lap, sobbing. Jonathan had his arms wrapped around here while James was shooting me daggers the first time I walked through the door.
"Jess, Adam's here."
She took in a breath and looked up. When her eyes met mine, I was heart broken. She looked like she just lost everything.
I ran over to her and took her willingly into my arms . She cried into my shoulder. I whispered words into her ear, trying to get her to calm down. She wouldn't budge and I tried everything. I kissed her, rubbed her back and tried talking. She just wanted to cry and I would be there.
I noticed she stopped but only to take a break from everything. Her breaths were deep and steady. She was sleeping.
"We need to talk abou the arrandements. Jess found my mom's will and everything. But there is another thing you guys need to know." Justin said, taking charge.
"What?" We all said.
"Clinton is her father. He has been notified and is flying in right now. And... when he goes back he wants his daughter."
"The hell... He shouldn't get her." Jonathan beat me to it.
"Legally, he does. He has always wanted her but lost in court. I don't know what to do."
Jess started to stir and when she opened her eyes, I gave her a sad smile. Her eyes were red and puffy from the crying.
"Jess, are you okay to talk?"
She jumped from my arms and walked over to the couch. She nodded and took in a breath.
"Well, Clinton wants you to go home with him."
"Okay... He is my father I guess I should go."
"Jess, are you crazy!?" I said kinda loudly. "We have never even seen this man and you just want to go live with him?! You don't know a thing about him."
"He's my father. That's all I need to know."
The guys were walking out of the room and letting me talk some sense into her.
"Jess, but you have my place. You don't have to go to him."
"You're wrong. You told me if I went to my mother, not to even think about coming back. And trust me, I'm not. I have a family now and you can go back to yours. Everything is fine."
"No! Everything is not fine!"
"Adam, just stop. I have made up my mind and this is how it's gonna go."
It hit me hard. I moved closer to her and she moved back. I felt my heart breaking.
"What about us?"
She looked down.
"Jess, Clintion is at the airport now!" Justin yelled from what I assumed was the kitchen.
She walked outside and I knew she was going to the car. The guys followed and Justin waited for me to step outside.
"Do you want to go?"
I nodded. I had to make sure she was okay. I had to be sure this guys wasn't a creep.
We all got in the truck with me in the back and in the middle. Jess was in the passenger's seat and Justin driving. The car was silent and that was all that was going to happen right now.
We walked into the airport probably sticking out. Jess was walking first and kinda alone.
We waited and I wouldn't take my eyes off Jess. She wasn't giving anyone anything. She stood with her arms crossed and all her weight on her right leg. She put her hair in a ponytail and just waited like the rest of us. But, I was more worried for her.
"Jess?" We noth looked to Justin who was pointing a finger at a man.
He was in his forties and looked worried. He had black hair and his blue eyes stood out like Jessy's. You could tell he was her father. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. He had athletic shoes of and when he was us staring. He walked over quickly.
He immerged with Jess and wrapped his arms around her. She did too and they hugged for a while.
When he pulled back, he looked her over with a smile. Not in a perverted way but in a way that said The last time I've seen you, you ever this big. He smiled so big and looked to us.
"I am Cliton Candistra and I am Jessica's father."
Justin stood up and held out a hand. "I'm Justin, and her half brother. These are my brothers Jonathan and James. This is Jess's friend Adam."
I gave him a glare that said if you hurt her I will have your head. By the way I am, you could tell I was a country boy and I would skin your head and mount it.
He shook all of our hand and we took his bags. Then he started talking Jess.
"I have seen some many pictures but you are so grown up. I chose your name out when you were a baby. Jessica Ann Candistra." This made Jess smile and her eyes sparkled. She was happy now.
We got in the car and they both talked about life before her mom. She was talking about the foster homes and he was talking about his job. He was an acountent. She didn't know anything about it and he was trying to explain it.
We were now at her brother's house. We all sat down and looked at Jess.
"I don't want a funeral. I dont people there just saying how horrible she was."
Her father wrapped an arm around her. She just wanted a small prayer with a priest and to be done. She evntualy fell asleep.
"I'm going home." I said once I made sure everything was okay.
I shook all of their hands and left, walking home.
