Draco kicked the tin can up the sidewalk as he walked along the pavement to his favorite coffee shop down the road. Engaged within the year? He was sure his mother was barking mad. How the hell was he supposed to fall in love with someone in a year? Draco didn't even really know if he was capable of loving someone else.
Apparently, loving someone else meant putting them before yourself. Draco let out a laugh. There was no way.
He pushed open the door and siddled into the booth by the window. A waitress moved over to take his order and as he ordered, Draco had to wonder why she was looking at him the way she was. Dammit. He had taken her home one night and then spent the rest of the next day on the other end of the Manor to avoid saying goodbye.
She batted her eyelashes at him and he turned his attention to the paper that was left on the table in front of him.
He grunted and tossed it aside as he realized it was a muggle paper. Draco growled again in annoyance.
His coffee arrived and so did the waitress. He couldn't understand why she didn't just send it over to him with magic but when he looked at the way she was looking at him, he scolded himself. Of course. He thought to himself. I'm the sexiest thing alive. Who wouldn't want to get on top of this? Draco smirked and picked up the paper again to make ignoring the waitress easier.
As he looked at the paper, he saw that there was an open home viewing in muggle London this coming weekend. From the picture, it didn't look half bad. It looked to be a nice, spacious apartment. The only problem was that it was in the middle of a bunch of muggles. Anyone who knew Draco would know that he wouldn't be caught dead in such a place.
Draco finished his coffee under the stalkish eyes of the waitress and left the coffee shop making a mental note never to go back there again.
As he walked up the steps to the Manor, Draco heard a sound that made his heart drop. Squealing. What bimbo has mother lured into our house this time?
Just as Draco was about to go around the back of the house, the door was yanked open and a prissied up Pansy Parkinson stood grinning from ear to ear.
"Draco baby!" She squeaked.
"Uh hey." Draco said.
Pansy squealed and launched herself at him. Over her shoulder, Draco caught his mother's eye. She had a smug yet approving look on her face. Draco shook his head a fraction. There's no way he was going to marry the pugface.
Narcissa's features darkened. "Draco darling, Pansy just stopped in to see you. She's just arrived back from Bulgaria. I've invited her to stay for the weekend before she heads home to her parents house."
Pansy broke away from Draco and began excitedly telling him all about what it was like living in Bulgaria. Quite frankly, Draco didn't care.
"Here. Let me show you to the guest bedroom." He said cutting her off and picking up her trunk.
Pansy's eyes flashed with excitement at the mention of a bedroom and Narcissa's features remained expressionless. Draco trudged up the stairs with Pansy's suitcase and laid it outside the door of the guest bedroom.
Pansy reached the landing and bounded over to Draco. She wore a sweet, cheap smelling perfume and from the strong stench, it smelled as though she may have bathed in it.
"Draco baby?" Pansy cooed in his ear. "I've missed you dearly." She nipped at his earlobe as she spoke. "Why don't you come into my room and give your newest guest a proper welcoming?" She trailed kisses up his jawline edging closer and closer to his mouth.
