Chapter 1- Stoic

Erens p.o.v

I wake up to the same stupid ringing tone of my phone. From no other than Mr arlert. I groan and end the call. He's my alarm apparently. God he needs to stop I have an alarm clock. As I sigh I pick up my phone. Armin is calling again. Angrily I accept the call.
"WHAT" I shout down the phone.
"I'M UP"
I hear a panicked armin on the other end.
"Eren where the fuck are you?!"
Suddenly panic overwhelms my body.
"What???! What time is it?!"
"Eren it's 8:30!!!" I leap out of my bed ending the call before he can say anything else and grab my gym bag which has my spare clothes inside. No time to change doors open at 9 and it takes 20 minutes to walk there. I need to be in the pool by 9. Shit. I'm going to have to run.

Why didn't armin wait or knock or something!? Now there's me with a vest and black pajama bottoms running through the streets of trost trying to reach the freaking aquarium. God it hasn't even been 5 months and I'm already being late. Erwin is going to kill me. Employees are supposed to be there at 8:15 so we have long enough to set everything up. I'm going to look dreadful. I'll see if any of the girls have cover up for under my eyes.

In a record breaking 15 minutes I reach the aquarium dreadfully out of breath and dart through the employees only door to see armin ready for the pool just without his tail and running over to me.
"GUYS EREN IS HERE" Out of nowhere Erwin and Hanji (hanji is erwins second in command) rush over to me.
"Jaeger what the hell!" Erwin shouts at me while I'm rushing over to my dresser.
"I'm deeply sorry I know I'm on at 9 give me 5 minutes everything will be good. Ms Zoe do you have any cover up or whatever for under my eyes that would be okay underwater??" I say in a hurry brushing though my hair and taking my shirt off. She sighs and nods. "I'm always prepared for these days" She half smiles. Ms zoe was always my favourite as she treated me differently to the rest. She said I mesmerised her when I swam and was different to everyone else.

I turn to her and she places it under my eyes and starts rubbing it in. "Ow- ms zoe- stop- ow" She hits the side of my head and continues.

"Stop being a baby, if you didn't sleep in this wouldn't be happenning mermaid boy" I sigh and remember that she used to call me mermaid boy even though armin was much more mermaid like than me. I go to armin and he chucks me my sea green tail. It's very pretty. It's sea green to match my eyes and every now and again you'll catch a metallic scale causing it to glimmer.

Armins is blue. Not going to lie. He looks really damn cute when he's dressed up like that. I'm allowed to say that because I'm his best friend and I'm not gay so it wouldn't matter anyway.
"Eren wake up" Armin waves a hand infront of my face before handing me a cup of coffee. "Thanks armin, sorry about being late" I say chugging the mildly hot coffee that I assumed had been out for a while.
"Nah sorry for not waiting my aunt drive me this morning I text you but you didn't respond" I look at me phone to realise he is correct. I sigh and look at the time. 8:55....
"Come on, let's go back before the kids file in to see mermaids on land" I smirk while we carry our tails to the mermaid tank and enter a back door next to it. The room goes above the tank where we jump in.

The tank is quite large to be honest and I share it with little fish like clown fish and rainbow things. When me and armin climb the ladder and reach the white room above the tank, Which nobody can see of course, we sit next to the edge and put our tails on. It seems that I have gotten skinnier than the last time I put this on. It's been happenning quite a bit and there is a small gap which will be a problem. Armin noticed and slides out of his tail with quite the trouble. He takes the rubber like material and stretches and bends it slowly moulding it to the shape of my stomach until magically it fits. "How did y-"
"Why are you loosing weight?" He asks confused and worried.
"I don't know" I answer truthfully.
"Are you eating normally?" No
"Yeah i am I'm not sure what's going on" He looks at me skeptically but then climbs back into his tail. The room turns blue all of a sudden showing that children and adults are filing in the building. It's also because then no light will radiate in the bottom of the pool. We flick out legs over the end of the water and fall in. Some people are scared to think about swimming with their legs binded together by rubber material but honestly I find It quite fun. The door opens and Erwin walks inside.
"Eren you did it surprisingly" He laughs. I nod.
"Aren't I just the best?" I say holding a hand over my heart. He just stares and there is an awkward silence.
"WELL looks likes we better be heading in" Armin says breaking the silence.
"Yeah go on there's quite a few kids waiting for you down here" i nod and look at armin. We take a deep breath then drive under the water.

Shit. I forgot my eye drops. This fucking hurts. No I need my eye drops this kills. I think to myself as I swim back up to the surface to see Erwin smirking. He looks at me expectantly. I sigh and hold out my arm. He places a small tube in my hand and I open it to see my eye drops.
"See? Aren't I just the best?" He jokes with a hand over his heart. I huff and quickly put them in my eyes before diving back in. Armin is swimming through the tank waving at little children and putting his hands on the glass. Haha they all love armin.

Still realising I'm holding my breath I swim to the bottom of the tank to see kids rushing over to me. I wave and they all wave back. I smile not letting any water get in my mouth then swim to a little girl standing by herself. She has raven hair and a cold face. No smile, but she did look very interested in everything. I need to fix that no smile thing. I swim above her without realising and go head first to the floor seeing her jump back. Her eyes widen and she runs and puts her hand on the glass. I turn upright and put my hand on the glass above hers. I smile and she her eyes are filled with happiness but her mouth still doesn't move. I put a hand over my mouth and blow out very quickly releasing a load of bubbles hen move my hand away from my mouth looking like I blew a kiss. All of a sudden her mouth opened wide and moulded into a bright smile. This kid is too cute. My throat gets tight and I need to get air. I look at her and point up. She nods as I swim back up to the top getting a big gulp of air before swimming back down to her.

The little girl is gone so I look around to see if I can find her. I can't. Oh.. okay. I go to swim when I hear a soft pat on the glass. I turn to see the little girl with a smile still on her face and an older guy who looks extremely similar. She must've brought him here. I swim back to the glass and wave she let's go of him hand and waves with both arms. It's hard to hear through water but I heard a distinct 'what's your name?' So I go up to the glass and write my name backwards so she can see it. She smiles again and points to her dad I assume and he just nods at her. She frowns and looks at me. I nod and swim up a little to reach his height.

Which wasn't very far to be quite honest.

I smile at him and flip upside down. He still just looks at me. I draw a heart on the window and he just furrows his eye brows. What the hell. I turn to the little girl and shrug. She makes a blow kiss motion with her hands and I smirk at the man. I swim backwards a little and blow a kiss at the man sending bubbles everywhere. He looks very shocked and taken back and the little girl is laughing her head off. I put a finger up and swim back to the top to get air. As I do I start laughing. And try to control it. I take another breath and swim back down. The man had the little girl on his shoulders and she is looking sad. I tilt my head. The man looks at me. I still can't hear well but he speaks anyway. 'We have to go' is what I thought I hear. I wrote a simple work on the glass which made the little girl smile very wide.

"Tomorrow?"
