“She was brave and worthy to be called my sister. I remember when we were kids she would always try to venture into new things. She was crazy, but she was a true beauty in the inside also on the outside. There was no doubt about that. People saw her for her beauty and nothing else, but her family and anyone who knew her for who she really was, well she was incredible. I’m sad to see her go.” Danny, spoke very sadly as the funeral had begun a while ago.
Queen Rachel was weeping loudly then the others as she held her two sons close to her. Hunter and Holden sat beside there mother on either side trying to comfort her for their loss.
Issac stood not that far away from the crowd of people. He had decided not to get anywhere near where her parents where, since they might want him to speak. Right at this moment Issac wasn’t in the mood to say a thing. He just wanted to get this over with so he could go home and never return.
King Samuel stepped up on the stool as he was patting Danny back, “Thank you for your wonderful speech, Danny.” Danny stepped down and walked back to his seat, “My people!” King Samuel began, “We had suffered a great loss, but my daughter would rather us having a great time instead of a gloomy day.”
Issac leaned over near a wall as a girl his age came beside him. She smiled brightly, twirling her brown locks of hair, “Hey, why aren’t you up there? I heard you knew Julia well.”
Issac didn’t find interest in this girl as he responded, “I’d rather keep my thoughts to myself.”
“Well, I heard rumors that you had feelings for the Princess.” She said, batting her eyelashes.
“Well you heard…..right.” I said, trying not to hide the fact he had feelings for her,
“Well, since she’s dead and everything. You want to….”
He knew where she was heading to and he shook his head sadly, “I’m sorry, but I’m not looking for anyone at the moment. You sound like a nice girl, but I can’t.”
She nodded her head understanding, “It wasn’t so bad to try.” She smiled one last time before she walked away towards her seat.
A loud noise came from the halls as Duke barged in the room shouting, “Wait!”
Issac pulled Duke next to me telling him to hush, “Duke, what in the world? This isn’t a wedding!” he said,
Duke ignored him and walked up to the King and smiled brightly, “Julia, can be saved.” He said,
Hearing the gasps of people around the castle, some who where speechless others who didn’t believe it.
“It’s impossible! He is disrespecting the dead!” an old woman shouted.
King Samuel rose his hand up for silence, “Continue on.” He said,
“King Samuel, Julia can be alive again, but with a kiss.” He said,
This time Issac stormed up to Duke with anger filling in his eyes, “No! It’s not true. A kiss that’s all it takes? This is insane.”
King Samuel features softened as he remembered the day when he didn’t know what to do when Rachel was fast asleep for ages. A kiss would solve everything in his mind, but he wondered would it save his own daughter?
Queen Rachel gazed at her husband, she knew what she was thinking was completely insane, but it could work, and “How will it work?” she asked,
Duke smiled brightly, “Only her true love will awaken her.” He kept taking glances at Issac for him to get the message, but he kept denying that this would work, “I’ve studied this one day when I was a child and I remembered it quickly this afternoon. I need you to trust me on this. She’s dead, but she ate a curse apple that killed her. With a curse, there always a cure. Believe me on this.” He pleaded, “The thing is, after the kiss fate will decided to keep her alive or…..not. They have to decide if she is worthy.”
Prince Issac started to walk out of the funeral, but King Samuel stopped him, “Issac, please.”
Everyone was gazing up at the Prince and he had no idea what to do. Queen Rachel stood up and wiped her tears away with her sleeves, “Don’t do it for us. Do it for her.” She said,
Prince Issac glared at the ground before stepping up to the casket that Julia laid on. She was wearing a bright pink dress to match her pale skin. Her blonde golden hair was pulled into a braid. Her brown honey golden eyes were held shut, for him to never see again. He sighed as he brushed her cheeks, “This is crazy, Julia.” He whispered, “But here goes nothing.”
He tilted his face and brushed his lips to hers. Her lips were ice cold and his were warm. He felt a slight shiver as he kissed her lightly.
He gazed at the girl who didn’t make one move and he turned around to see the people’s eyes lower, “There!” he shouted, “Nothing happened!”
He glared at Duke the most as he screamed out, “She’s dead! We have to except that!” he sat down breaking down crying. Never in his life had he cried in front of people, but there he was weeping in front of the whole Kingdom. There were loud gasps from across the room.
A hand touched his shoulder, “I’m not dead, silly.” Her voice was a like song as she smiled at the crowd of astonished people, “It’s like you seen a ghost or something?” she said,
Issac turned around glancing at Julia who had stood from her casket and now was close to him, “-but?”
“How?” the crowd asked,
Julia winked, “A little bit of magic.” She said,
~..~
The Kingdom rejoiced with the new chapter of there lives and with Julia beside them now. Queen Rachel would contently pull Julia close to her and bring her into a hug. King Samuel would happily cry with joy.
King Samuel had promoted Duke to being head Doctor for the Kingdom. As for his brothers, they lived in a more comfortable place with Duke, or should we call him Doc now since his title overtook him in all Kingdoms around.
It wasn’t till everyone stopped trying to get a hold of the miracle Princess when Issac took her aside from the entire crowd.
“Hey you.” She said, letting her hair lose from the tight braid that was causing her a bad headache,
“Hey.” He smiled shyly,
“I like this shy new Issac part of you.” She giggled as she poked my sides, “What’s wrong?” she asked, seeing the concern reach his face,
“Nothing, it’s just I can’t believe you’re here.” He said,
“Well, I am so get use to it.” She said smiling,
He scratched the back of his head, “About that kiss.” He said,
“What about it?” she said, raising a brow,
“Kiss me.” He whispered,
“I thought you’ll never ask.” She said, never once kissed a guy without being full awake that is and now was her chance. Especially with the guy she liked. Who knew she would fall for a Prince?
He tilted her chin up with one hand and hesitated just a moment. The look on his face almost scared her - nobody had ever looked at me that way, with such...what was the word? Devotion? She wasn't sure how to name such things, being inexperienced with them.
When he smiled, the twinge of fear vanished. He leans forward and her eyes closed almost instinctively. They, at least, seemed to know what to do.
His lips found hers a moment later, warm in contrast to the cold wind. She didn't know what else to do but let it happen...and she was more than happy to just let it happen. He guided her through it, his actions delicate as if he knew that this was a first for her. One of his hands touched her waist; the other kept my chin tilted. In some corner of her mind, she dazedly thought, kisses are softer than she expected.
