Harry's POV      2 and a half weeks later

I walked towards the infirmary, fresh flowers in my hand. I greeted Sam as I walked in, setting the flowers in water beside her bed.

I leaned down and kissed her forehead, sitting. "Hey, babe."

I settled in the seat beside her, opening the book in my hand. "We had a meeting today, I made it apart of the council. Everyone was voting, it was dead silent in the room and Niall just let one rip."

I let out a laugh at the thought, flipping to the page I left off on last time. "Ken wants to send us out on a mission, especially after S33 attacked us outside the walls."

"Anyways, I'm rambling," I said at her. "Let's start off where I left last time."

For the next couple hours, I read to her. It had become a habit over the past couple weeks. I figured it was better than silence all the time.

Niall came in, his eyes meeting mine. I closed the book, standing up to greet him. "What's up?"

"Ken wants us to prepare for our mission," he said quietly. "We're leaving tonight."

I looked down at Saige. Her hair had grown a bit, greased over from lack of washing. Her face had became pale from lack of sun on her skin.

Niall must have noticed my hesitation because he stepped forward. "She'll be fine. Waiting right here when we get back."

I nodded. "You're right."

I leaned down and pressed a kiss to her temple, lingering there for a second before pulling away. "I love you."

I followed Niall outside, pulling on my gear and helping the boys load up. Ken gave us the map of where he wanted us to go, sending us on our way.

I pulled myself into the truck, glancing towards the infirmary one last time before watching the trucks pull away. The farther we got from camp, the more scared I became. Being away from her was worse than dying. It made me scared, weak, upset.

When we got twenty miles from camp, we took the turn towards the city. Out of nowhere, something bright flashed across our vision before we flipped. My body slammed into the side of the truck, I reached for my gun but it was too late, black filled my vision.

Saige's POV

It was like being trapped

I could hear everything, feel everything, but yet I couldn't see anything. I couldn't talk. I could feel his fingers wrap around mine, comfort me. I could hear him read to me, tell me about his day, I could feel his lips press against my skin before he left. But I couldn't kiss him back. I couldn't tell him I loved him too.

Pain radiated through my body all hours of the day until one of the nurses gave me meds. I knew what was happening to me. And I was so angry.

Harry had left for some mission. I knew because Niall came to get him and he told me goodbye.

A lot of the time, I would fall into nightmares for what felt like forever. Nightmares would last for hours, I couldn't wake myself up, couldn't fight back against the terrors.

It was a couple days since Harry had left and my days left strange without him coming to see me.

I felt one of the nurses fixing my IV, giving me my meds for the day. She was talking to another nurse, who was fixing my bed.

"They haven't heard anything from them in a few days," one of them said. "They didn't check in at any of their checkpoints."

Who were they talking about? Were they talking about Harry?

"Do you think James killed them?"

James? I killed him. James was dead.

"I don't know but I'm not sure what will happen when she wakes up and he's not here."

"She'll be fine." Asher's voice rung up, the door closing behind him.

I heard the nurses scurry away as Asher took a seat beside me, taking my hand in his. "You'll be fine."

Images of Harry being ripped apart flashed across my vision as I twitched. James wrapping his fingers around Harry's throat just like he did mine.

"Saige?"

He can't die. He can't leave me. Not like this. Not when I can't even tell him goodbye. I wanted to scream out his name.

Suddenly, my eyes shot open as I gasped for air. I sat up as Asher gaped from beside me.

"Where is he?" I asked, my voice hoarse. "What happened?"

"Saige, you need to calm down," Asher placed his hands on my shoulders as the nurses came in. "Harry's fine-"

"Don't lie to me!" I yelled at him. "What happened?"

"They went on a mission and haven't checked in like they were supposed to."

"Well,  who's out there looking for them?"

Asher glanced away as the nurses checked my vitals.

"No one?"

"You need to calm down, your body can't take this right now."

I fell back against the pillows, breathing heavily. I closed my eyes, trying to catch my breath.

"Saige, calm down." Asher said softly.

I gripped his hand as I struggled to breathe. "I can't lose him," I said softly. "Not again."
