Chapter 4

     November 10, 1983
     Hawkins, Indiana

The Body

"What should I tell them?" Nancy panicked

"Everything." Jessica sighed

"But not about the drinking." Steve said "my parents will kill me my dad's a grade A asshole."

"Your dad's not that bad." Jessica laughed

"Yeah, because you're not his daughter." Steve replied

"Or maybe I'm not you." Jessica smiled

"Well I, um have to get to class." Nancy said trying to get out of the awkward conversation

"Oh um, Bye Nance." Jessica said

"Jess can we please be late to Johnson's class." Steve whined

"We're always late to Johnson's." Jessica said

"I know, but I'm pretty sure he hates us." Steve laughed

"Nooo really." Jessica rolled her eyes "Come on let's not be late today, atleast one of us will be pulled out to talk to the cops."

"Fine." Steve laughed "but technically yesterday we were early."

"Yeah by what 10 seconds." Jessica laughed

"It was actually 20." Steve corrected her as they walked into the classroom

Jessica sat down, to be greeted by two officers and none other than her mother; great....

"So tell us what happened the night of the eighth." an officer said

"Well, Tommy H, Carol, Nancy, Barb and I all went to Steve Harrington's party, it was all low key." Jessica said "we were all having a good time, throwing each other in the pool, then we went inside to dry off."

"Did anything else happen?" The officer asked

"Nancy was going to change into some dry clothes, and Barb and I told her not to..." Jessica heasitated

"And why did you tell her not to?"

"Well, because I guess we just didn't want her to...you know."

"Have sex with Steve Harrington?"

Those words hurt Jessica. Chills went down her spine, and everything was quiet.

"Jessica?"

"Yeah, sorry. I guess it just didn't seem like Nancy."

"So what happened during this argument?"

"Nancy told us to go home, so we did...or atleast I did." Jessica said

"You live next to Steve correct?"

"Yes sir."

"Did you see Barbra after you left?"

"I saw her walking out of his house, that's it." Jessica lied

"And what is you and Barbra's relationship with Steve?"

"Barb only was at the party because of Nancy and I." Jessica said

"But you and Steve?"

"We're friends." Jessica said "But that's all."

"Okay thank you." The officer said

"A party? Jessica a party I thought you were going to the assembly!" Tracey said

"I'm sorry, we were planning on going but then we went to Steve's instead." Jessica lied

"Save it we'll talk about this at home." Tracey said

Jessica walked to her next class as her mother went home.

"So how'd it go?" Steve asked

"It was awkward to say the least." Jessica said

"And why was that?" Steve laughed

"Because they called my mom in." Jessica rolled her eyes

"Oh shit." Steve laughed as the blonde elbowed his gut

"Jessica." Tracey said

"Yeah?" Jessica asked

"We need to talk. About last night." her mother sighed

"What about it?" Jessica asked

"Well w-." Tracey tried to say

"No, there was no drinking, and my vagina was sealed can I go now? Thanks." Jessica rolled her eyes walking upstairs

As Jessica was in her room doing her homework her light blue phone next to her bed started to ring. Jonathan.

"Jonathan what's up?" Jessica asked

"Come to the school red room, like now." Jonathan said "Nancy and I are there."

"Okay I'll be there in five." Jessica said hanging up her phone

Jessica snuck out of her window and went to her car. And surprisingly her parents didn't spot her.

"What's up?" Jessica asked going into the red room

"I saw it." Nancy said

"Saw what?" Jessica asked

"The thing that you, and my mom saw." Jonathan said "it's in one of my photos, the one Nancy kept."

Jonathan was working on the photo as Nancy and Jessica were watching.

"And you're..." Nancy said

"Brightening, Enlarging." Jonathan said

"Did your mom say anything else, like where it may have gone to or...." Nancy said

"No. Just that it came out of the wall." Jonathan said

"And it had no face, tall, skinny and long fingers." Jessica quietly added

Jonathan put the photo into the liquid and moved it around.

"How long does this take?" Jessica asked impatiently

"Not long." Jonathan said

"Have you been doing this awhile?" Nancy asked

"What?" Jonathan said

"Photography." Nancy replied

"Yeah, I guess I'd rather observe people than you know." Jonathan smiled

"Talk to them." Nancy smiled

"I know, it's weird." Jonathan said

"No." Nancy said

"No it is, it's just sometimes people don't really say what they're really thinking." Jonathan said "But you capture the right moment...and it says more."

"What was I saying?" Nancy asked

"What?" Jonathan asked

"When you took my picture." Nancy smiled

"I shouldn't have taken that." Jonathan said "I'm um, I'm sorry."

"Guys." Jessica said getting their attention "Guys!"

Jonathan and Nancy returned their attention to the photo.

"That's it." Nancy said "that's what I saw."

"Me too." Jessica whispered

"If, this thing is, really what my mom says, then Will, he's really alive." Jonathan smiled

"And if he's alive." Nancy said

"Then Barb, she must be alive too." Jessica partially smiled
