Hawkins, Indiana
As normal, Steve Harrington had drove his car next door Jessica's house and waited; And waited. Finally after several minutes of waiting Steve decided to climb up the tree next to her bedroom and knocked on her window. No answer. As he was ready to knock again he saw Jessica, curled up in the corner of her room with her eyes closed, with fear all over her face. Thankfully Jessica always keeps her window unlocked. Steve slowly and quietly opened her window, and crawled through it, walking over to Jessica
"Jessica, Jessica wake up." Steve whispered
Jessica flinched as Steve touched her shoulder.
"Jess, what's wrong?" Steve worriedly asked
Jessica stared at Steve and hugged him, not willing to let go.
"Hey it's okay, do you want to tell me what happened?" Steve asked
"I-I k-kee-keep-." Jessica choppily said as tears were falling down her face
"Hey, hey breathe it's okay." Steve cooed rubbing her back
"I...keep having the same dream over and over again." Jessica quietly said "but....it's not a dream, it's a nightmare and it...it feels so real."
"What are the nightmares about?" Steve asked
"It's like, I'm in my room but...it's dark, and hard to breathe." Jessica said "and there's...no one around, but there's this thing...that only shows up when there's lightning."
"How long has this been going on?" Steve asked
"Christmas." Jessica mumbled
"Jess, that's nearly a year ago why didn't you tell me sooner?" Steve asked
"Because....I was scared." Jessica said
"Of what?" Steve asked
"Of you...not believing me, thinking I was crazy." Jessica whispered
"Jess, it's alright okay." Steve said pulling her into yet another hug "I'm here don't worry."
Suddenly the two quickly let go of their hug as Jessica's mom yelled for her.
"Jessica you're going to be late for school!"
"I know! Steve's picking me up I'll be down soon!" Jessica yelled back, her voice croaking as she tried to yell
"You better get dressed so we're not late." Steve slightly laughed
"Why don't we skip Smith's, I can't take that Billy guy any more, and it's only been a day." Jessica said
"Jessica Evans, the Jessica Evans wanting to skip Smith's class." Steve smiled
"For crying out loud, why should we just skip Smith's we should be able to skip the full day." Jessica said "it'll get me time to figure out what the hell is happening."
"Sounds like a plan, but what about your parents?" Steve asked
"They'll be gone in, 10-ish minutes and the school will call in 20 minutes so we're okay." Jessica said "now what about you?"
"My parents are like never home." Steve said
"Staying home it is." Jessica smiled
👻
Thankfully, since Jessica's Dad is a doctor, both her and Steve spent several hours going through his books, trying to figure out what's happening to Jessica.
