Chapter three

“Hi.” He said. Grayson held me still, captured between the locker and his body, captured by his eyes. So unique so beautiful. I shuddered and looked away from his face.

“I know you aren’t mute, you were talking earlier.” He joked. I glared up at him. Smart ass. “Your hair is so pretty.”

I flinch as he reaches for my hair. His long fingers run smoothly through the short locks before settling on my arm.

“I don’t mean to be creepy, really I don’t. I just want to get to know you.” He explains.

“Why?”

“Because you’re different. I can tell you aren’t like most girls.” Grayson whispered against my skin. He leaned towards my neck, gently kissing behind my ear and breathing my scent in before he pulled away. He disappeared a second later, leaving me with tingles where his lips had pressed.

Eve strolled up to me with a knowing smirk, Ariel behind her. “Ready sexy? We have English next, then gym, and finally art before the day is officially over!”

“Yeah, I’m ready.” I muttered.

*****

“Holy Shit! You’re an artist!” Ariel screamed. I cringed at her loudness, and tugged my bandana tighter. “Do you see this Evelyn? Beauty over here just became twenty times hotter!”

“Ariel, watch your language.” Ms. Scone scolded as she walked over to my easel. I saw the surprised look on her face as she looked at my charcoal drawing.

“It looks exactly like her.” Evelyn muttered while looking at Ariel, who had been chosen as todays model. Ms. Scone had put us all in a circle around a center stage where a model of our choice would sit. The whole class had to draw her in some way, whether it be with coal, pencil, oil paint, acrylic or water color.

“Wow Ms. Williams this is amazing. It looks like Mr. Deveroux is going to have competition this year.” Ms. Scone smirked.

“Who?”

“My brother.” Evelyn answered. I gulped, and felt my face turn a deep red as he walked towards my easel.

“Yes, she is good. I can see I will have to up my game if I want to be in the art gallery this year.” Grayson snickered.

“I love the way you captured the heat in her gaze. She looks the same. I look forward to seeing more of your work.” Ms. Scone added just as the bell rang. I rushed out of the classroom after grabbing my drawing. Evelyn and Ariel tugged me with them to the parking lot where Adrian and Josh met us at the base of the stairs. I wiped my charcoal hands on Adrian’s shirt and giggled at his horrified expression.

“This was my favorite shirt woman!” He growled. I dropped my backpack and the drawing onto the ground and took off running. I didn’t make it far before Adrian tackled me. That’s when I felt it, the all too familiar pain that settled in my body. I pushed Adrian up off me, and wheezed. He cursed, and lifted my head up, cradling it in his large hand. He massaged my chest until I felt the pain pass and could breathe again.

“It was just a panic attack Adrian. I’m fine.” I muttered. He brought my face closer to his until our foreheads were touching. Our lips were a millimeter apart as he whispered his love for me, and how sorry he was.

“It wasn’t your fault Adrian.” I whispered.

Josh stormed over to us, and I noticed we had almost everyone’s attention. “Get off of my sister, asshole.” Josh growled. I cringed at his anger. “You could have seriously hurt her! She’s fragile!”

“You think I don’t know that Josh? I was there throughout everything! I sat by her side just like you!” Adrian yelled. I covered his mouth with my hands and shoved him away from Josh.

“Please, don’t.” I whispered.

“Hey! I thought you said you two weren’t together!” Eve said as she walked over to us.

“We aren’t, were just really close.” I explained.

“Close as in friends with benefits, or close as in he’s my best friend, but picturing him naked is gross, I’d rather sleep with my new girlfriend’s brother who I find hot as freaking hell?” Eve asked

“Uhm, neither?”

“It’s the second one.” Adrian answered with a wink.

I smacked him playfully and walked to my backpack with Evelyn.

“Okay, gimme your phone.” She urged. I handed my phone over to her, and she played with it for a minute. “I’ve put my number, Ariel’s, Kate’s, Gray’s, and a few others. I want you to text me when you get home okay?”

I shook my head yes before scurrying after Josh.
