Chapter seven
Tuesday arrived sooner than expected. I woke up later than usual, so I rushed through getting dressed, just throwing on a pair of black shorts and a skull tank top that dipped low in the back. I put on my most comfortable sandals before grabbing my phone, keys, and purse and heading downstairs. By now everyone had left, so I cursed myself before leaving too. I had completely forgotten to ask someone to drive me to my appointment.
I sped all the way to Grayson’s so I could pick him up. He hopped in the car looking sexy as usual, before kissing me. I almost got carried away when he chuckled and pulled back. I pulled out of his long ass driveway and onto the empty road. No smart cars today, thank god.
We arrived at the school with no accidents and I parked in the front. Leaning over I placed my lips on his, and grabbed a fistful of his hair. HE groaned into my mouth, massaging my thigh.
“I have to go.” I whispered against his lips.
“Why? Where are you going?” He asked. I felt his lips trail down my neck and to my collar bone.
“I have a few things to get done today. I have to plan Adrian’s surprise party, I have to go to the doctor, I have to get my tail light fixed, I have so much to get done.” I replied. Grayson sighed before kissing me one last time and getting out. I drove away from the school with a squeal of my tires.
“Alright Ms. Williams, you’re free to go. You said your brother is in the car waiting, correct?” Dr. Reed asked. I nodded my head yes before leaving the office. I could feel the medicine in my veins, burning its way through my system, I knew I wouldn’t be able to stay awake long. I cursed silently before getting in the car and hurrying home. I called Josh as I unlocked the door.
“Hello?” He asked.
“Josh, I need you to take Grayson home please. I’m too tired to do it myself.” I said into the receiver.
“Already on it love, you’re a little late to be asking. We waited for an hour.” Josh growled.
I felt my body go numb, the blood drained from my face, and I knew what was coming. I began sprinting up the steps towards the bathroom. I had just enough time to lift the toilet seat up before vomiting.
I don’t know how long I sat there, I just know I sat there for a while. Adrian came up to the bathroom after a while and sat with me, rubbing my back, holding my hair and whispering soothing words in my ear. I sat there dry heaving for a long time. Finally, I fell asleep on the bathroom floor, cradled in Adrian’s arms.
I didn’t make it to school the next day, or the day after that. My family was really angry at me for driving home like I did, but they’d get over it. They had to eventually. On Friday Ms. Scone dropped off the homework I had missed for the week. I never got to it.
I missed two weeks of school, and when I went back, I had a new hair cut. It was just above my shoulders and styled a little differently. I wore the usual make-up, and wore slightly baggier clothes trying to hide the weight I had lost in such a short amount of time.
When I got to school I parked in the handicapped parking space, and walked to my locker where Adrian leaned.
“I’m glad to see you’re feeling okay.” He said as he hugged me. Josh hugged me too before Evelyn and Ariel came up to us.
“Where were you?” Evelyn asked.
“I was sick.” I muttered, “The damn flu gets me every year.”
