Chapter eight
The weeks flew by, the months passed. Adrian loved his surprise birthday party, and all his gifts. Grayson and I went out every weekend, to various places. Sometimes we went alone, other times we went with friends. He took me all over the town, and even to some places a few towns over. We had damn near every day together, and on weekends, we slept in the same bed at one of the houses. We decided to have sex on Grayson’s birthday weekend. We spent the night in a hotel, and made sweet sweet love all night long. He was shocked to find that I was a virgin, and then he was happy that he had been the only one inside me.
We had been together for a while, and I was feeling the stirrings of something foreign building inside of me, and it sparked to life every time I saw him.
Soon, I was heading back into the clinic for my second treatment.
“It’s been six months, how do you feel?”
“Good.” I admitted. I had truly never felt this wonderful in my whole life.
“That’s great Megara! I’m glad. We’re going to have you get on the scale, and we’re going to check the normal things okay?” Dr. Reed said.
I took my sandals off and set them next to the scale. I closed my eyes as I stepped on. Dr. Reed shuffled and rubbed my back.
“I’m so proud of you.” He said. “You’ve gained twenty pounds!”
I squealed as I hugged him tight. Dr. Reed has been my doctor from the beginning, when I was younger and first came to him he had little hope that I’d survive this long. But I proved him, and the statistics wrong by striving. When I moved, he told me about his second practice where he would be most of the time, and it just so happened to be a few towns away from where I was moving. I never asked, but I had a suspicion he moved his practice so he could continue to treat me. He didn’t have much to worry about, no wife or kids at the ripe old age of forty. This saddened me, he had held my hand through everything, practically my second father, but he had no kids of his own to care for.
Throughout my treatments he had stressed my need for healthy foods, and exercise. But I also needed to gain weight because of how small I was. Now, having gained twenty pounds, and seeing him shine bright I felt ecstatic.
A knock sounded on the door and Dr. Reed told the person to come in. Another doctor stepped into the room with a raised eyebrow. “Is everything alright in here?” He asked. His face was familiar, sharp, angular. Grey eyes met mine, and he smiled softly.
“Yes Dr. Fuller. Everything is fine, Ms. Williams has just made me so proud.” Dr. Reed said. I felt my cheeks flush.
“Of course. Ms. Williams, it’s a pleasure to meet a woman I’ve heard such wonderful things about.” Dr. Fuller came into the room and shook my hand. I smiled shyly.
I called my brother at the doctors office so he could come get me, and an hour later Adrian and Josh pulled into the parking lot. I walked out into the heat, and handed Josh my keys. I needed help to get into the truck, and once inside and buckled I fell into a deep sleep.
I only woke when I had to throw up, or eat. As usual Adrian stayed by my side, he even brushed my teeth once. When he finally decided to settle down, that woman will be so lucky. A week after the treatment I felt the urge to shower. Adrian had to help me, so he stripped down to his boxers and then took my clothes off. My muscles protested every move I made, so I leaned against Adrian for support. He washed my hair, and my body before helping me out and drying me. I dressed in a tank top and underwear before he had to put me back in bed. Being sick sucks.
