Chapter fourteen
Grayson* (Finally Grayson's point of view!!)
I was laughing with the guys when Nick’s phone rang. He checked the caller ID before giving me a weird look and answering.
“Hello?” He mumbled. I gave him a questioning look as his eyes grew wide and he quickly started to grab his stuff. “Alright, alright. Calm down babe, I’ll get him and we’ll head over there right now!”
“What’s wrong?” My buddy Sal asked.
“Ara fell.” Nick mumbled.
“What? What’d she fall off of?” I asked, not thinking it was a big deal. She was always so clumsy.
“She fell down the stairs Grayson. She’s in the ER now.” Nick explained. Before he even finished I was running to my car and driving off. He followed behind me in his own car and parked next to me at the hospital. I found the family sitting in the waiting room, most of them looking sad. When I got there, Adrian glared at me before storming out.
“How is she?” I asked.
“We don’t know. No one’s told us anything.” Mom muttered.
“She called you asshole!” Adrian yelled as he came back into the room.
“What?” I whispered.
“She called you! More than once, she called your phone! She needed help and you weren’t there!” Adrian screamed.
I patted my pockets frantically looking for my phone before I realized that I had left it at my moms house this morning in my rush to get Ara over to the new house. I had desperately wanted her approval, and in the excitement, I had forgotten it.
“I don’t have my phone on me, Adrian. I had no idea!” I whispered.
“She called you too, Adrian.” Kaity mumbled.
“I know. That’s the worst part. I wasn’t there for her either! She was alone.” Adrian mumbled. I pulled him into a hug and patted his back. He looked so scared.
I refused to let myself think negative things. I needed her to be okay. I needed my babies to be okay. I needed my family.
It was a few hours before a doctor came in and looked at us.
“Are you the party with Ms. Williams?” He asked.
“I’m her father.” Her dad said as he stood up. “Is she okay?”
“I did everything I could…” My hearing vanished. My breath started to come out faster, and I pulled my hair. She couldn’t be gone, she couldn’t be gone. I felt fresh tears pouring down my face and I roughly wiped them away.
“Gray! Are you listening?” Adrian asked. I stared at him, and then looked in front of me at the doctor trying to shine a light in my eyes.
“I’m fine.” I growled.
“Ara’s okay. She’s alive.” Adrian muttered.
“My babies? Are my babies okay?” I urged.
“They’re fine. I’m having a nurse send a portable ultrasound machine to Ara’s room so we can check on them. Ara made it out with a few bruises. The gash on her head is stitched up, which is where most of the bleeding came from.”
“Can I see her?” I asked.
“Of course, if you’d just follow me.”
We walked down a few corridors before he pushed open a door. Ara was laying in the hospital bed, looking pale and sick.
