Chapter four
I got home about ten minutes later, and found it empty. Josh had went to Adrian’s to hang out, so I sent a text to Evelyn.
Home safe.
~ Ara <3
I hummed a random song while taking my medicine and ate a bowl of fruit. I had to eat now since I hadn’t really eaten during lunch.
Hey girl! Wanna hang out? Ariel left me to go hang out with her mom, and my older sister is out with her fiancé. Im all alone over here!
~ Evelyn
I walked upstairs while replying to her text.
Sure, im just going to change and ill head over. Where do you live?
~ Ara
I changed into a pair of black shorts and a light blue tube top, pairing them with black flats. I grabbed my cell phone, a jacket, and my keys before running to the garage.
I live on West Street Third house down, black gate with a large D printed on the top. Call when you get here and I’ll buzz you through.
~Evelyn
I tried to remember where West Street was and it clicked just as I started up my black Ford F150 King Ranch, also courtesy of my Aunt.
On my way.
~Ara
I waited for the garage door to open before slowly backing out of the driveway. Josh was pulling in just as I made my way to the stop light at the end of the road, and I answered his call.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“Evelyn wants me to hang out with her, so I’m headed over there. I don’t know when I’ll be home.”
“Okay, did you bring your medicine?”
“Yeah, I always do.” I whispered.
“Be safe please, and be home at a decent hour. I’ll tell dad where you are.”
“Thanks love you.” I said just as he hung up.
The light turned green and I pressed down on the gas. The car started forward and sped up quickly. I opened the center console and pulled out the auxiliary cord. I connected one end to the stereo, and plugged the other into my phone before turning on some Bring me the horizon and shutting the console. I turned the music all the way up with the volume button on my steering wheel, as I sang along.
“My secrets are burning a hole through my heart, and my bones catch a fever, when it cuts you up this deep, its hard to find a way to breathe.” I sang.
“Your eyes are swallowing me, mirrors start to whisper, shadows start to sing-” my phone rang cutting the song off so I pressed the green button on the steering wheel as I said ‘hello’.
“Hey Ara! It’s Eve, I just wanted to ask you a question really quickly.” Eve said through my speakers.
“Sure, what is it?” I asked.
“Can we go pick up Grayson and Nick when you get here?”
“Why can’t he drive himself?” I asked.
“His car broke down today, and Nick’s car is already in the shop.” Eve explained.
“Yeah, sure. I’m pulling up to the gate now.”
