Chapter ten
Grayson and I had spent New Year’s in a cabin, celebrating in our own special way which consisted of a lot of love making. Deliciously sweet love making.
At the end of January Matt called Grayson and I to the shop where he gave us our magazines that we get to keep and the money. Grayson and I were lucky enough to make the cover, in a beautiful shot of us wrapped around each other. His sleeve was on full display, and so was my back. When I flipped through it, I found the spread about Good Fellas, Matt’s tattoo shop. It featured a few pictures of other people and their little tattoo’s, but Grayson and I both got our own pages. A large photo of me was on the left side of the page, with a couple little photos on the right. Grayson’s page was much the same, and the article about the shop was great. I could already see it bringing in business. Matt and I talked a few more minutes about him using some of our photo’s on bill boards, and for Ad’s. I agreed, seeing as it would bring in money. Grayson also agreed after asking a few questions.
We then talked about becoming apprentices for the shop, and Matt told Grayson he could start right away, where as I couldn’t start until I turned eighteen and completed a portfolio.
Spring break was quickly approaching in the beginning of April, and Grayson was logging tons of unpaid hours at the shop. I had barely seen him since he started with the apprenticeship. Now, I only really see him at school. Thankfully he was taking this coming week off, to spend it with me and our friends since it was the week of our trip. I was excited but it seemed I had the flu again. I went in for a regular appointment with Dr. Reed. Adrian followed me into the room this time and Dr. Reed was ecstatic to see him. I stepped on the scale and my eyes turned to saucers.
“Am I getting fat?” I whispered to Adrian.
“You look a little bloated. Lay down on the table.” Dr. Reed ordered. I complied, and lay on my back. His cold hands reached under my shirt to feel my abdomen.
“Does anything hurt?”
“That’s extremely uncomfortable.” I muttered.
“When was your last period?” Dr. Reed asked.
“I don’t remember. I know it’s really irresponsible of me but I don’t really write down when I have my period.” I admitted.
“Dr. Fuller, can you bring me a urine cup?” Dr. Reed shouted out the door. “I’m going to have you pee in a cup for me, okay? We’re just going to run a few tests and if anything comes up I’ll call you.”
I peed in the cup as quick as I could and Adrian and I left. We were down the road when my cell phone rang.
“Hello?”
“It’s Dr. Reed. I’m going to need you to go to the Emergency Room okay? I’ve given them specific instructions on how to deal with you.” He muttered. He sounded quite strange, but I said okay and told Adrian where to go. Once at the hospital I was taken to a back room where I was told to wait. I waited, and waited. Adrian began playing with the doctor’s equipment on the wall out of boredom, until finally a knock sounded on the door.
A doctor in a white coat came in with a wheeled machine.
“I’m going to need you to lift your shirt up; this might be a little cold.” He said.
I lay on my back and lifted my shirt up. Gel was squirted onto my stomach and a sound filled the room. No, two thumping noises. It was like a beautiful symphony. The doctor smiled and turned the screen towards Adrian and I.
“Looks like you’re having twins.” He said. I stopped breathing. My heart dropped. Me, having babies? No. Impossible. It became hard to breathe, and before I knew it, I had passed out.
