Chapter 3
It's going to be alright, she said. I assure you, she said.
Well, now I completely doubt it because I suddenly felt lost in my room. I couldn't find where my robe and my towels are, where the pan and the utensils are - I couldn't even find the bathroom itself. I have been pacing for half an hour already and I still haven't done a single productive thing.
I finally dragged myself to the kitchen and made myself coffee but I immediately put it away before drinking it because I remembered it can make you more nervous. I drank water with bacon and eggs for breakfast instead. I washed the dish and other things that I used afterwards.
I went to my bathroom and I was relieved that my robe and my towels were there. How could I forget? Anxiety.
I started to take a bath and used all of the soap with a good strong scent so I wouldn't have to spray some irritating perfume later. After I dried myself, I started to dress up. As what Ellie advised me to do, I wore my tartan pencil skirt that I made a year ago and it was one of the best and one of my favorites that I ever created.
Before I could almost forget, I brushed my teeth, packed a bottle of water, and then filed my diploma and my resume in one folder. When I checked the clock - it was 7 am - I decided that I should get going.
As I reached the pavement outside the building, I waited by the pedestrian lane for a cab. Since it's a friday and it is payday, there were a lot of cars on the street.
An empty taxi finally came up not too long. I went in and told the driver where my destination is - V. Hastings, Inc. The thought gave me butterflies in my stomach.
The cab came to a halt in front of a wide gray building with 10 storeys. It looks like the Google company - only with less fun and smaller - with the glass walls that let you see through the lobby and the offices on the other floors. It was pretty - cute to be exact - like it was pressed down to a tiny fat building.
I paid the taxi driver and took a deep breath before going out. The cold 7-in-the-morning-breeze brushed my face and the strip of my bare midriff, only enough to make me more nervous. I took another breath and marched towards the door.
I came inside and it was warmer in here. The lobby has a counter by the center with big letters on the backdrop written as VHI - the initials of the corporation.
The lobby has the same vibe of the lobby in my condominium. Furnitures were black and white, placed everywhere with the employees having a break or just hanging around. There was a black carpet towards the counter as well.
I observed the counter where there were three ladies working on with some computers. After striding a few steps, I accidentally bumped into a tall girl and almost stumbled. Hey! Way to go, Pig!
"I'm sorry," I mumbled before looking at her face. The girl is absolutely gorgeous - blonde hair tied into a messy bun, blue eyes, pale skin, 5'7 in height, and have a great sense of fashion. She actually looks familiar to me - not that I've known her before.
"Oh, I'm sorry too. I didn't see - hey! Nice outfit!" She looked at me from head to toe as she examined my clothes.
I stiffened a little bit. "Thanks," I said.
She waved in return and left hastily with a full smile.
I looked down on my outfit - I'm glad I look presentable for today. I grinned to myself - at least she didn't look like she was going to kill you.
