Chapter 14
I thought I would have a day or a night off without hanging out with Trevor but then, here I am standing with him with my brother and Kurt at the condominium's lobby.
"Don't you know where she is?" Trevor asked Paul who had his tired face back on, but now with worry.
Paul ran his hand through his hair and sighed defeatedly. "I have no idea." He replied.
"Let's go look for her then," I suggested. "Before we could totally lose her."
They all looked at me as if they were thinking about my suggestion. I only shrugged and looked at my feet that was now wearing black flipflops.
"Kurt will go with me. And Paige. . ." As Paul called my name, I looked up at him, my arms folded. "You come with Trevor. We'll split - we'll go on the right side of the city, then the two of you to the left."
Trevor nodded and took my wrist to follow him to his car while my brother and Kurt walked out of the building and was supposed to go on the other direction. Before we could go off, Paul told us that they'll be using Kurt's car.
"Hey, Trevor?" Paul had said. Trevor turned to him with a little surprise. "I love my sister. Please take care of her."
Trevor tensed on his seat like he was given a mission that he shouldn't fail, but gave a reassuring smile as if he was privileged to do so. "I will."
I think my heart just fell out of my chest.
Paul smiled back. "Thank you," he ended and left the car window on my side then walked to Kurt.
Trevor started driving at a calm pace and we didn't talk for a while. I could feel myself getting a little dizzy and I realized, it's just now that the vodka was starting to effect on me. Why didn't I think of that? It's my first time to drink, of course I'm going to get drunk.
"Just in case," I started, breaking the silence. "Is it okay if I throw up in your car?"
Trevor gave me a confused look before going back to the road. "Why? Are you okay?" He asked, a little worried and I feel guilty for adding another burden to him.
"I'm getting a little dizzy and," I paused, sighing whether to tell him or not. "I drank vodka and I think it's just now that it's effecting on me."
He just gave me a reassuring smile before saying, "How many did you drink?"
I raised my index finger. "One," I answered.
He furrowed his eyebrows at me. "Only one? You'll never get drunk with that!"
I rolled my eyes and replied, "It's my first time, okay? And the glass was a little big for me to consume."
"Okay, just relax in there for a minute." He advised and continued to drive.
I stared outside the window, looking at the sidewalks and trees and street lights. I looked up to see the moon and the clouds drifting off with each other. I could make out shapes from it.
"Look at the cotton balls floating outside!" I said pointing at the dark sky and the light from the moon.
"Huh?" I heard Trevor but I didn't turn to him.
I giggled. "That one looks like a unicorn," I chuckled at the cotton balls that doesn't even look like balls anymore. I put my hand out to him, still looking outside, and tapped his shoulder frantically. "Trev, you should really see this."
