Chapter 5

Thank God for the sunshines every morning because here I am squinting through the light as I walked to the pedestrian lane. I didn't have to use Trevor's umbrella anymore. Sara and Diane gave me suspicious looks after we got drinks from yesterday and I told them what happened yesterday morning and, thankfully, they believed me - not that I was telling a lie though.

My mood was pretty good today and it's only seven in the morning. I could just start up a flash mob dance on the street without looking weird.

I took the bus going to the office. Once I arrived, I debated whether to return the umbrella to Trevor once I got there or during breaktime instead.

As usual, I went to the elevator and pressed the tenth floor button. The doors slid open then I found myself staring through the glass doors to the office. If I turn left, I could already return Trevor's umbrella back.

     Choose your destiny.

     Shut up.

I concluded that Trevor might not be in his office yet so I marched towards my workplace.

"There, there," Diane said as I got to them. "Did you get some sleep last night?"

Was I late again or they're just here early? The last time I checked I got here before 8 am.

     "Of course!" I answered. "Why wouldn't I?"

Sara tilted her head sideways. "He didn't even cross your mind before going to bed?"

"Who? Mr. Trevor Schmidt?" His name slipped out of my mouth. That save though. "Why?"

Andrea stepped in. "Um, because he's annoying." She stated sarcastically.

I heard Brandon and Dylan muffled a laugh. I dismissed the topic quickly before it spreads around the company. "He's just my boss - our boss. Right?"

Diane frowned like a child. "Okay," she stated angrily but in a joking manner. We all went to our respective workstations.

"So," Diane whispered to me from her cubicle. "Is the umbrella yours or are you going to return it to him later?"

I shrugged. "I will return it to him. It looks expensive." I replied. She widened her eyes and nodded.

We all turned our focuses to our work and I started to decide what materials I should use for my designs.

Trevor appeared just like yesterday from the door. He actually has two doors - the double doors on the other side of the office and a single door inside the office.

I controlled myself from looking at him because I don't want to start a conversation until I will give him back his umbrella. But as the stubborn person that I am, I risked a glance at him.

     Wrong move.

Abort mission 2.0. I repeat, Abort mission 2.0.

Trevor was looking at me and smirked as he saw me looking back at him. He was pacing slowly back to his office with his hands on his pockets. I awkwardly gave him a smile and quickly looked away before things would get even more awkward.

I sighed as I heard the door to his office shut with a little squeak. The way Trevor looks at me was sending panic through me. Did I do something wrong? I don't look like a thief, don't I?

"Hey, are you coming with us?" Sara said standing beside Diane.

I looked from the bright screen of my laptop to my watch and checked the time - it's already lunchtime.
