Chapter 15

The moment I arrived to the office, I've never felt so uncomfortable to be here anymore. It's like the air was different, sticking to my skin. My stomach had started feeling upset once I was in the bus until I got here. I got anxious, really, everytime I thought of going to work when the things that happened last Saturday kept flashing back in my mind.

I got to my workspace and settled my things on the table. As I was about to sit down, Sara stood beside me, her arms folded across her chest.

"Look who we got here," she said, raising an eyebrow with a smirk on her face.

Diane jumped in. "Why did you leave without telling us?"

I shrugged. "I told you guys, I'm not used to those."

"Catherine told me something," Andrea appeared behind Diane. "You left with your brother's friend?"

I scrunched up my nose and nodded, "Yeah, I'm sorry." I said, sitting down and opening my laptop. "He wanted to see my brother," I added.

"Then. . .?" Diane said, waiting for a continuation.

I glanced at her. "Then what?"

She shook her head, her lips pressed into a thin line. "Something happened, Paige. It's written all over your face."

My eyes widened and blinked it off. I laughed nervously and flicked a hand at her. "What? No! There's nothing!"

"You got drunk?" Sara blurted and I almost choked my heart out. She must've seen my reaction because she shrugged and added, "I mean we all did - wait, you're reacting!"

I shook my head and chanted 'no' in different tones. I quickly looked at my laptop and opened my designs that I needed to finish and present.

"So what happened between you and Trevor?" Diane looked at her nails with a wide grin on her face. How could she just say his name so casually? I couldn't even let it slip out of my mouth especially inside the office without sounding suspicious.

I sighed, debating over my head whether to tell them or not. Thankfully, Dylan appeared and told everyone to get back to work, shaking his head at Diane who was supposed to be saying that instead of him.

A few moments later, I know the door from the CEO's office would open so I had put on earphones and play songs on my laptop. Despite the fact that I was trying to distract myself, I still sensed that Trevor had got out of his room to post something on the bulletin board hanging on the wall where our cubicles were facing. I did look at him when he had his back at me and immediately looked down when he returned back to his office.

I sighed and returned back to my laptop and continued with my stuff. My phone buzzed beside my hand just right after Trevor disappeared, and of course, he was the one who texted.

     Trevor Schmidt:

Don't get too distracted by the music! It could really affect your work.

I scowled at how he's really trying to get my attention when I'm here trying my best to ignore him all I could as I still try to erase what had happened the other night.

     to: Trevor Schmidt

You're the one distracting.

I replied and returned to the screen of my laptop, deciding what type of cloth I should use for the dress I was working on. Not too long after I replied, Trevor sent me another message.
