"Jennifer! Look! Look!" said my overly excited friend, Catherine. I looked over in the direction her finger was pointed. All of a sudden my heart fluttered when I saw who she was looking at. There he was. I could already feel the heat coming to my face.

"Who is that?" I asked her. My mind started wandering as I just kept staring, hoping he didn't look over. I came back to reality right as she told me his name was Ashton Smith. Just hearing that name brought butterflies to my stomach.

There he stood. Wearing jeans and a light blue button-up shirt; he looked like a model. His skin was a light tan color, and he had neck length dirty blonde hair, with side bangs that covered a little bit of his right eye. I had to check myself to make sure there was no drool. Then, the moment I was hoping wouldn't happen, happened. We made eye contact. But in that eye contact, I felt this volt of electricity travel through my nerves. I blinked, just to make sure this was not a dream. I was filled with happiness when I found out it wasn't.

I looked away at Catherine who was just standing there smiling at me, like every other best friend would do. She knew that look from me. That was the look she had seen many other times before. I looked back in his direction and smiled weakly. When I saw him looking back, his answering smile was so dazzling. Luscious looking lips pulled back to reveal perfect pearly white teeth. It was the smile of an angel. I had to look away quickly before I did anything else embarrassing. Catherine was still all bubbly when we walked off to our next class.

The day went by and I couldn't stop thinking of the new kid, Ashton. He was the hottest person I have ever seen in our small town of Vera, California. Catherine would not stop talking about our little gaze at each other that happened earlier today. It was 7th period already and I couldn't take it anymore.

"Catherine! Shut up please!" I told her.

She replied quickly saying "Oh right! Sorry."

I sat there in my desk staring off into space, waiting for the bell to ring to begin Pre-Cal. Once again I was brought back to earth when I felt Catherine poking my arm. I looked over at her to find out what her problem was.

"What?" I asked her, seeing her wide eyes. She just looked over to the doorway. I followed her gaze and saw for myself. There was Ashton Smith, walking into MY class. I was beyond shocked, but a little excited, too. I had a class with him. That was a good thing, right? My heart skipped a beat as I watched his smooth, almost flawless walk. He stopped at a desk right next to mine and sat down. At that moment, my heart raced, my cheeks turned tomato red, and the butterflies multiplied. I looked over at Catherine with wide blue eyes. She stared back with even wider brown eyes. I was too scared to even look in his direction. He probably already thought I was weird, because of the incident earlier. I peered down at my binder praying to God that I would not make a fool of myself around Ashton.

"Hey." said a deep, teenage guy voice. At that moment, the butterflies tripled. He was speaking to me. One of the hottest guys at this school was actually speaking to me, Jennifer Cruz. No guy like him had ever talked to me before. I moved my long brown hair behind my right ear and slowly turned to look at him.

"H-Hey." I said with a shaky voice as I looked into his hazel eyes. He had the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen on a guy.

"You're Jennifer, right?" he asked me.

"Yah, a-and you're Ashton?" I answered back.

"Yep, But my friend's call me Ash." He said back. I just didn't know what to say back, I was just lost in his eyes. Luckily the teacher was ready to start class. I turned away from him and looked back down at my binder, ready for this day to be over.

"That is all for the day. You all can start on your homework now." These are the famous words of my Pre-Cal teacher, Mr. Gallery, who always gives us extra time at the end of the class to work on our homework. Usually, I am one of the nerds that would actually try to get their homework done in class, but today, I was just not feeling it. I looked over at Catherine, and she was already almost halfway done with hers, so I just laid my head on my desk and closed my eyes.

"Hey, are you alright?" asked a familiar voice. I turned my head and saw Ash staring at me.

"Yah, I'm fine. Just tired" I answered back.

"Too cool to work on your homework huh?" he asked jokingly.

"Ha! Yah, just for today." I replied. Finally the bell rang to end school. I grabbed my back pack, stuffed my binder in it, and stood up. Catherine was already waiting by the door. Ash walked with me to meet her. He was so much taller than me, I felt like I was standing by a huge 6' 4'' tree. I was just 5' 3''. Catherine saw us, causing that smile to spread across her face again. She looked almost like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.

"Ashton, this is my best friend Catherine. Cat, this is Ashton." I told them.

Cat looked up at him and smiled. "Nice to meet you." She said.

"You, too." He replied. Ash looked down at me and smiled. "I got to go; I'll see you guys tomorrow." He said looking at me then at Catherine.

"Okay!" Cat and I both said together. He just smiled and waved as he walked down the hall, and out the doors, disappearing into the sun. I could smell his Axe cologne lingering in the air.

I turned to Cat. "Ready?" I asked her, searching in my backpack for my car keys.

"Yah." She answered back, then she said what I was waiting to hear since she first saw Ash and I together. "He so likes you, Jen."

I looked at her, unsurprised. "You think so?" She just nodded. "Well, I guess I better work my magic tomorrow." I told her, smiling. She just laughed as we made our way to my car.

I went to bed that night thinking about Ash. I really hoped what Cat said was true. He seems like the perfect guy. Tall, hot, nice hair, nice style, beautiful eyes, good sense of humor, funny; everything I want in a guy. My mind and my heart were set on him. I couldn't stop thinking about him, and every time I am around him, I get the side-effects that every teenage girl gets when she likes someone.
