I'll Take Care Of You

Chapter 18

 

            I kept smiling at him, happy tears continued sailing down my eyes. His face was lit up, and he had the biggest smile on his face. It almost reminded me of how Edward looked when Bella said yes to his proposal.

            "Really?" He asked me, standing up. I smiled and nodded.

            "Yes Ashton!" Next thing I knew I was being lifted up in his arms and spun around. He stopped and put me down, then leaned down to kiss me softly on the lips. After a minute we both pulled away, out of breath. He hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear.

            "You have made me one happy man." I couldn't help but smile at that. I hugged him back tighter. I felt like the luckiest girl alive. We pulled away and I stared at him. I saw nothing but love in his eyes.

            "It can be a long engagement." He told me. "I know you would probably want to wait until we are graduated to make any plans."

            I smiled and nodded my head. "Sounds good to me...babe." I said with a wink. He chuckled and then pecked me on the lips.

            "Come on." He said, taking my hand in his. "Let's go home." I looked down at our hands; staring at the diamond ring on my finger. I smiled at the thought of us being married. Mrs. Jennifer Anne Smith. Hmmm, I liked the sound of that.

            When we got back to the car, Ash opened the passenger door for me before getting in himself. He started the car, took my hand and kissed it, then drove home with my hand in his, and a big smile on his face.

            We got home and walked in the house. "SURPRISE!" We heard, as everyone jumped out at us. They were home earlier than we thought.

            "Congrats Jen!" Sky said, running over to hug me.

            I smiled and hugged her back then pulled away. "Thanks...cous." I said, punching her arm softly. The rest of the family gave us their hugs and kisses and blessings. I looked up at Ash and he had a smirk on his face. I slapped him on the arm playfully.

            "Ow! What was that for?" He asked, rubbing where I slapped.

            "You knew about this, didn't you? I asked, hiding a smile.

            "Well of course I did. Who do you think told everyone to come home early?" I chuckled and shook my head.

            "Sorry you guys had to cancel your weekend activities and anniversary plans." I said, turning to everyone.

            "It's no big deal." Karen said with a smile. "This was worth the trip home." I saw Robert roll his eyes. I hid a smile as I felt arms wrap around my waist. I leaned my head back on Ash's chest as he put his chin on my shoulder. He lightly kissed my neck.
