It was finally the end of the week, Friday to be exact, and that meant that mine and Ash's date was tonight. He had texted me after school to tell me that he would pick me up at 6pm. I was excited but nervous at the same time. We had only been going out for a few days now, and I still get nervous around him. What is WRONG with me?! I shook my head to get rid of the thoughts and focused on getting ready for the date.
Rummaging through my closet, I tried to look for the perfect outfit. After searching for about half an hour, I decided it was time to call in a reinforcement. I took out my cell phone and dialed Catherine's number. She was a fashionable person, so I knew that she would be able to help me out.
"Jen?" she answered.
"Hey, I need your help. It's a fashion emergency!"
"I'm on my way!" she replied and quickly hung up. With forty five minutes to spare, she walked through the door of my bedroom. "What's the emergency?" she asked, looking at the pile of clothes on my bed.
"I can't find anything to wear for tonight." I looked down at the floor and then up at her through my eyelashes.
"Hmmm" she rubbed her chin. "Let's see here." She looked at me and then the clothes. "Stand up!" she ordered. I stood up and she walked around me in a circle. Then she held up a couple outfits to me. A minute later she shouted, "PERFECT! OH! Ash will just love this on you!"
I smiled. "Thanks Cat. I couldn't have done this without you."
She smirked. "You're right. No you couldn't have." I punched her arm playfully and then headed to my bathroom to get changed.
DING DONG! The doorbell rang just a few minutes later. "Jennifer!" My mom, Isabella, called up the stairs to me. "Your date is here! And he looks very handsome!" I just rolled my eyes and chuckled under my breath.
"Coming!" I yelled down to her.
I turned to Cat, who wanted to stay to see me off; to see if I looked good. "You look BEE-U-TI-FUL my dahling." I smiled and told her thanks, and then I took one last look in the full length mirror and headed downstairs. I did a shy smile as I saw my mom and Ash standing at the foot of the steps. Catherine trailed behind me. I'm pretty sure she was grinning from ear to ear.
"Wow." I heard Ashton say. I guess I made him speechless. I smirked to myself at the thought. I was wearing a pink flowy dressy top with a black knee-length tight-fitted skirt, and white flats.
"Oh honey! You look SO pretty!"
"Thanks mom." I told her smiling.
"Ok, well you guys better get going. You don't want to miss your movie."
I nodded and gave her a hug, then turned to Cat to give her a hug and whispered a "thanks again" into her ear. She smiled and whispered "no problem."
"I'll have her home safe and sound after the movie." I heard Ash tell my mother.
"Oh hun, don't worry. There's no rush home. You two have fun!" I said goodbye as Ash opened the door. Then taking my hand, he led me to his car.
"The Demon Inside?" I asked Ash as he bought our tickets. We were at the theater and about to see one of the scariest movies I have ever seen commercials for. I usually like horror movies, but this is one I knew right away I wasn't going to be watching most of.
"Yah, I heard it was really scary." he smirked as he pulled me through the doors.
"Great." I mumbled under my breath. We found our seats towards the top of the theater and the middle section -my favorite place to sit-, and then the credits started. I put up the armrest between me and Ash, just so I had some way to hide my eyes if things got too scary.
The movie wasn't that scary at first, but halfway through it got crazy scary. I kept jumping and hid my face in Ashton's chest. He chuckled and put his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I looked up at him and whispered "It's not funny!" I saw him raise his eyebrows and put his hands up in defense. A smirk played on his lips. I rolled my eyes and looked back to the movie.
"I hate you." I told him as we walked out of the theater.
"Why?" he asked trying to sound hurt.
"Because you made me see that movie." I whined. He took my hand and we walked to the car in silence.
"Still mad at me?" he asked. I nodded my head. I heard him sigh.
We got to the car and when I was about to open the door, he spun me around again, closing the door behind me, just like he did at school the other day. I stared up at him and looked into his eyes. "Still mad?" I nodded, speechless. He leaned down to me until we were just inches apart. "Now?" I nodded a little. He leaned in and kissed my neck, trailing up to the corner of my mouth. "How about now?" I sighed and shook my head. He smiled in victory and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I hadn't noticed what he was wearing until now. He had a blue and white striped button-down shirt, with khaki shorts and black Vans. And he smelled amazing! Looks like he sprayed that famous cologne. He leaned down and kissed my lips softly. I kissed him back, our lips moving in sync for a few seconds and then he pulled away. "You hungry?" he asked. I nodded, trying to regain my breath back. "Let's go get something to eat." He said, leaning down to kiss my forehead.
