I gasped and dropped the laundry basket. I looked down as I felt water run down my legs. Then the pain started.
"ASHTON!" I yelled. He ran into the room looking worried.
"Wha-" He was about to ask, but then his eyes widened as they saw me holding my stomach.
"The baby is coming!" I told him. He grinned widely and then grabbed the bag we had packed last week, just in case, and then he helped me get to the car.
"PUSH!" I heard the doctor tell me. I had been in labor for twelve hours and it was time for the pushing."Push one more time. I see the head." The doctor said. I pushed one more painful time, and then heard crying. I leaned my head back on the pillow as tears crowded my vision. I finally have a daughter. I wiped my tears away as the doctor handed me my precious baby girl. I looked down at her as tears of joy ran down my face. She was so adorable. I smiled down at her and kissed her forehead.
"Welcome to the world, Adalyn." I whispered to her. I looked up at Ash with a wide smile on my face, and I swear I saw tears in his eyes. He leaned down and kissed me softly on the lips, and then kissed the top of Addie's head. I held my arms up so Ash could get a chance to hold our daughter. I liked the sound of that; our daughter. He took her in his arms and rocked her softly. I leaned back feeling exhausted from the long day and watched Ash rock Adalyn to sleep.
"Jen wake up." I slowly opened my eyes to see Ash looking at me. I looked around and saw we were the only ones in the room. I sat up and looked around a little panicked.
"Wha- where's Addie?" I asked, looking back at Ashton. He sat next to me and I scooted over to give him more room. He laid down and pulled me towards him. I cuddled into his chest but looked up at him.
"She's okay. She's just getting some normal tests done, newborn procedure stuff." I nodded and then closed my eyes; only to open them as I wondered why he had woke me up.
"Why did you wake me up then?" I asked, sitting up a little more to look at him. He grinned and sat up too, slinging his arm around my shoulders.
"Did you forget what today was?" He asked me. I thought about what he meant, but came up with nothing. I shook my head no and he chuckled.
"Not only is it Addie's birthday, but it's someone else's, too. I looked at him confused and when I didn't respond after a minute, he rolled his eyes and leaned down and kissed my cheek. "Happy birthday JenJen." He whispered in my ear. I face palmed and shook my head. The date was indeed March, 1st.
"I must really be out of it. How could I forget my own birthday?" He shrugged and wrapped his arms around me. I snuggled close to him, leaning my head on his chest.
"It's understandable." I sighed and smiled.
