"Are you ready to find out what you're having?" The doctor asked. It has been four months since I found out I was pregnant, and we were at our annual check-up. I looked at Ash and he looked back at me and smiled.
"It's up to you babe." He said, squeezing my hand. I looked down at my stomach and then up at the ultrasound on the screen.
"Yah, I wanna know." I told the doctor with a smile plastered on my face, not looking away from the screen.
"Well congrats you two. You are going to have a baby girl." She told us. I turned to her and smiled widely.
"Really?" I asked, excitement clear in my voice and tears streaming down my cheeks. She smiled and nodded. I turned to Ash and he leaned over and pecked my lips. We pulled away and he wiped my tears away. We were having a girl. We were going to be parents of a beautiful baby girl.
"Any name ideas?" Ashton asked as we made our way home.
"Uh how about you choose, mine are too embarrassing." I replied with a blush.
"Come on. It can't be that bad." He told me with a smirk on his face as he looked away from the road to look at me.
"Believe me, I know you and I know you will laugh. So you come up with the name." I replied, looking out of the window.
"Jen, come on. Just tell me. Please?" He asked. I wasn't looking at him but knew he was doing the puppy dog eyes. I sighed in defeat, just because I didn't feel like doing this the whole way home.
"Fine. I'll tell you if you promise not to laugh." I told him, giving him a stern look.
"I promise." He said. I took a deep breath and then stared out the windshield as I spoke.
"Well, if I ever had a girl, I wanted her name to be Isabella, Bella for short." I looked at him sheepishly. He looked like he was trying not to laugh."That's umm, nice babe." He replied with a cough to cover a laugh.
"I knew you would laugh." I told him. He shook his head and took my hands in his, seeing that we were already home.
"It really is nice. It's just cute how you have a Twilight obsession." He said with a smirk on his lips. I rolled my eyes and looked down.
"Do you have any ideas?" I asked, looking up at him again. He nodded.
"I thought of unique names and came up with Adalyn." He replied, smiling.
"Adalyn?" I asked, thinking about it. I looked back at him and smiled. "I love it." I said.
"Okay. Good. How about you pick out the middle name." He told me, as he unbuckled his seat belt. I thought about it as we walked hand in hand to the front door. We walked in and sat side by side on the couch.
"OOO! I know!" I answered. I turned towards Ash and looked at him. "How about Nicole?" I asked him. He thought for a second and then nodded.
"Adalyn Nicole Smith. Sounds good to me." He said back before leaning down and kissing me softly on the lips. He pulled away and then kissed my tummy.
"Daddy loves you baby girl." He whispered to my tummy. I smiled and felt a tear fall down my cheek. That was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. How could I not get emotional? A second later I felt a kick! I gasped and grabbed Ash's hand; putting it to my stomach.
"What? Did she kick?" He asked. I nodded and then felt another kick. I smiled and put my hands over Ash's.
"That is so weird, but cool at the same time." He said with a chuckle. I laughed and smiled up at him.
"It's even weirder when you're the one carrying the little one." He shrugged and leaned down to peck my lips before getting up.
"You hungry?" He asked, walking towards the kitchen.
"When am I ever not hungry?" I asked with a smirk. I got up and made my way to the counter and sat down on one of the stools.
"True." He answered back while he took out some sandwich meat from the fridge.
"Mustard or Mayo?" He asked.
"Mustard please." I replied back.
I yawned and sat back in the chair. I patted my belly and smiled up at Ash. "That was good babe. Thanks." He returned a smile and nodded his head. I got up and headed to the bathroom. A downside to being pregnant -besides the crazed hormones- is the need to pee a lot.
I finished washing my hands and then went to lie in bed. It was only 7:00pm, but I was exhausted. That's another pregnancy downside. I pulled the covers over me and moved around until I was comfy. A few minutes later I felt arms wrapped around my waist. I turned around and smiled tiredly up at Ashton. He bent down and kissed me softly on the lips.
"Tired?" He asks as he rubbed my belly gently. I nodded in reply. He pecked my lips and then kissed the top of my belly. "I'll let you sleep. Holler if you need anything."
"I will." I replied back. He got up and headed back into the living room. I turned back to my original position; facing the right, and got comfy again. I patted my belly once more.
I loved my life. I have the most amazing husband, and expecting a beautiful baby girl. Life could not get any better. With these thoughts running through my head, I drifted off into a deep sleep.
