My heart seemed to stop as I stared at my fathers bloodied goggles. Dad was the one underneath that bird creature. I couldn't move, I could hardly even stand. My thoughts were clouded. If I had only gotten there sooner, I could have helped him! An unnaturally sick feeling seemed to swarm throughout my body as it trembled. My clouded mind cleared for a moment, and against my will, I found myself running once more, this time towards the thing hurting my dad.
I couldn't stop myself, it was like my feet moved on their own. I had now neared the creature, energy running through my arm as I punched it. Each hit made me grow progressively weaker and slower, but I had to do everything I could. When I took a heartbeat to se what I had done, my eyes widened, seeing no damage done. "G-get off of h-him." I weakly murmured, realizing I was out of energy. A voice had shouted incoherent words, and a rough grasp took hold of my arm. Next thing I knew, I had been flung off somewhere, coughing as my back made contact with a cold, hard surface. My vision had blurred, and I couldn't hear clearly, although I could hear distorted shouting in the distance.
'N-no good. If I don't manage to absorb energy soon, I-I'll be useless!' I thought, struggling to get back up to my feet. A strong force pushed me back down, and I could feel whatever, or whoever it was, crouching above me. Four fingers had cupped the sides of my face, forcing me to look up at whoever it was. I was met with a red eye only visible through a hand. Most of my senses had returned, allowing me to fully hear what he had to say.
"I didn't recognize you before Nomu threw you, but I finally have you back in my grasp, my precious (Name)." Shigaraki cooed. "And here I was thinking I'd have to hurt Kurogiri for not letting me go find you yesterday." I wanted to struggle, to scream, but I knew his quirk all too well, his ability to decay anything he touched with all five fingers. "W-why are you h-here?" I questioned with a shaky, monotone voice. He was about to answer, but was swiftly cut off as a figure was about to hit him. "Get off her!"
"Nomu." The birdlike creature had reappeared in front of Shigaraki as if it were guarding him. My eyes widened as I realized who the attacker had been. "M-Midoriya! Get away from that thing!" I shouted, fear spiralling through me. It all happened so fast that I could hardly comprehend what was happening. There was only one thing I knew for sure. From the sound of the crash that had just occurred, help was here. A booming voice called out. "Fear not. I am here!"
All Might stood frowning in the distance, but before anyone could do anything, he had rushed past a group of villains, lifting Aizawa in his arms. He only stood for a second before coming back towards us. The second my feet once again met with the ground I immediately ran to dad, checking for a pulse. My own heartbeat slowed when I felt it, but it was weak. Shakily, I got back up to my feet. For a while, it seemed like I couldn't understand what anyone was saying, but I got the message. 'Get yourselves and Aizawa out of here.' At least, that's what I thought they were saying. All Might would fight the villains alone until the other heroes showed up.
My eyes wandered, looking around at the others around me. Of course, there was Midoriya, but there was also the frog girl and the short, purple haired one. I didn't know either of their names yet. As they began to walk away, I stood there. I wanted to hurt the villains who hurt my dad. I had a chance to do so. All Might told us to leave, and yet I couldn't bring myself to move an inch from my initial position. But most of all, I wanted to make Shigaraki pay. He was the reason dad was hurt, the reason I couldn't use my quirk properly.
No. I need to overcome this stupid fear. My feet once again began moving forward. As I looked forward, I saw All Might being crushed by the bird thing. Shigaraki had called it Nomu, so I assumed that was it's name. Either way, I had to do something! I wasn't jut going to stand there! I ran forward, almost running into the familiar shadowy mist Kurogiri used to warp things, until a familiar ash blond jumped in front of it. "Get the hell out of my way, extra!" He shouted, explosions coming from his hands.
As he did that, ice surrounded the Nomu's lower half. 'Todoroki...' I had seen that the red-haired boy also tried to attack Shigaraki. I could only stand there as everyone else attacked. All Might managed to break free from the Nomu, and with Kurogiri pinned down by Bakugou, they couldn't warp anyone.
The ice-covered Nomu then stood, breaking free of the ice. My eyes widened in horror as it's broken limbs began to regenerate. It neared the blond, but as he was about to be hit, Bakugou had appeared behind me. "B-Bakugou? H-how did you..." Confusion was written all across my worried face. "I didn't do that." 'Then... It must have been...'
Shigaraki then began speaking again. "You know what, All Might? That really pisses me off. Heroes and villains both thrive on violence, but we're still categorized. 'You're good, you're evil.' That's how it is!" I zoned out the rest of what he was saying, concentrating only on one thing. 'I just need to make him unable to think properly until the rest of the pros show up. I can buy everyone time, and they'll be safe!' I had to use my quirk, it was the only way I'd ever be able to overcome my fear! 'So far, Nomu's only been taking orders from Shigaraki. If he can't order it around, then maybe it won't be able to attack.'
All I had to do was make it so he can't talk to it. I began to feel energy swarm into me as I focused on the emotions of everyone around me. 'What's a strong emotion that will make it so he can't speak properly? Sadness? Yeah, that might work!' I pictured Shigaraki in my mind, focusing only on the thought of him experiencing extreme despair. 'Maybe this will finally allow him to feel the pain he's caused me.'
I opened my eyes, staring at him as I kept the sturdy image in my mind. I noticed his body start to shake. For a brief second, my wavering (E/C) eyes met with crimson ones. "Now, now, (Name)-chan, you're really going to use your quirk on me?" The familiar sharp pain filled my head, but I only used it to my advantage, fuelling the despair I made him feel. I wasn't able concentrate on what was going on around me, but I eventually saw Shigaraki coming towards me. Although he stopped as Kurogiri spoke to him. Suddenly, both of them began rushing at All Might. I cried out as a sharp pain filled my head, causing the image in my head to dissipate.
I fell to my knees, watching as Midoriya once again threw himself at the villains. Shigaraki reached his hand through Kurogiri, reaching for Midoriya's face. Before he could make contact, a bullet pierced his hand. I swung my head towards the entrance, seeing several Pro-Heroes standing there, Iida along with them. More bullets came raining down on the villains.
My eyes once again met with Shigaraki's, before he abandoned Kurogiri and came rushing towards me. "We may not have killed All Might, but I'm not letting you go again!" He reached out, grabbing my arm with four fingers, tugging me to my feet. "N-no! Let g-go!" Kurogiri appeared beside him, and the man began entering the portal. I felt a tugging sensation, seeing an injured Thirteen attempting to suck in the shadowy portal. Shigaraki's grip faltered, and I tugged my hand free, feeling pain for a split second before Shigaraki almost went through the portal. "We may have lost this time, but we will kill you, All Might. And you, (Name), we will take you back." And with that, he disappeared.
I looked down to my wrist, seeing part of the skin crumbled and bleeding. But that was the least of my worries. In the mist where All Might once stood, I could see the outline of a thin man. I was about to worry about it being another villain before Cementoss created a wall to block him from view.

We were escorted out. From being thrown by the Nomu, I had sustained a few injuries, none of them as bad as my wrist, though. I begged the police who had arrived to let me see my father, but I was told I'd have to wait. I was taken to the same hospital, but I wasn't permitted to see him until he regained consciousness. The doctors told me I'd have a scar on my wrist, but I didn't care. As long as Dad was alright, I'd be fine.
I still couldn't help but wonder. 'Why today? Why did we have to be attacked?' I knew there was nothing we could do now. For some reason, I felt like this would only be the first in many events like this one.
Ok, and that's the chapter! It took me so long to find the time to write, but I finally got it done!
Also, it's only been a week since I pointed out there were over 400 reads, and holy crap, I checked back up on the reads, and now there are over 700? How did that happen?
Anyways, that's all for this chapter! Please correct any mistakes I may have made, and I'm sorry for any OOC-ness! I'll see you all next time!
