Dipper pulled away in a panic once he realized what he just did. "I, uh—"
Bill surged forward to reclaim Dipper's lips. Bill was warmer than he'd expected him to be, and his lips were smooth and perfect. The kiss was gentle. Dipper slid his arms around Bill's shoulders and Bill deepened the kiss when Dipper's mouth parted.
Bill: his family's protector. His protector. He was more human than he'd thought, especially with the human senses and emotions. Perhaps those emotions prompted Bill to change for the better. That was probably why he acted so kind to him and some of the henchmaniacs. His friend, partner.
When Bill was a full-on demon, he had been ruthless, evil. But Pyronica had told him that something had corrupted him. He knew, now. It was because Bill had no human emotions. Bill had been a human once, apparently. So had Dipper.
Dipper made a noise when he heard the library doors fling open. He and Bill immediately rose as Keyhole found them.
Bill had a hand on Dipper's back and his face was red, but Dipper's face was probably even more so.
"What is it?" Bill demanded.
Keyhole was panting as if he were sprinting all the way to the library without stopping for a single breath. Dipper tried to catch his eyes, but the henchmaniac refused to look at him.
Bill rose his free hand up threateningly. "Well?"
The demon flinched and said in one breath, "His family is here," he said, and pointed at Dipper.
Dipper's mouth dried. His family? Here? Were they crazy?! They shouldn't be here! It's been four years...
He hadn't realized he was breathing way too heavily until Bill rubbed his back and said to Keyhole, "Bring them to the throne room. Make sure no one is to hurt them in any way. No one touches them."
Keyhole scrambled out of the library with a "yes, boss!" said over his shoulder. Dipper watched the blue, keyhole-looking demon until he was out of his sight.
And then he dropped to the floor.
Bill knelt down beside him and gently lifted his chin, making Dipper look at him. He put his hands on the boy's shoulders and said, "We'll rid of them quickly if you don't want to talk to them." Bill looked away. "I...I understand if you don't because you're a demon now and it's been four years."
Dipper had never seen him stumble for words before. He inhaled and took Bill's face in his hands, catching his brilliant hazel eyes. "Thank you," Dipper said. "The last time I ever saw them was when I lied and stole the equation." He could have sworn he saw guilt in Bill's eyes for a second there, but that was just probably his imagination and slight panic. "I just don't want them to be mad at me. Or think I'm evil when...I'm not." He was a demon now, though. Shouldn't he be evil?
"You're not evil," Bill asserted. Dipper had realized that he left his barrier down. He quickly shielded his mind, just in case of the others. "I am. I started Weirdmageddon worldwide. I possessed you and tricked your uncles and your sister. I even..." Bill squeezed his eyes shut tightly. "I even almost killed your sister," he said quietly. "See? I'm the evil one. Not you."
Dipper's teeth grind together as he took both of Bill's hands and squeezed them. "Bill, making that deal with you to kill me instead of Mabel was one of my best decisions. Heck, you didn't even kill me! You probably saw how family stuck together or something and that softened you. Something softened you. I wouldn't be here with you if it weren't for that deal. My family wouldn't be safe."
Bill scrunched up his nose. "I'm not soft," he said and kissed Dipper's cheek.
"Yeah, yeah," Dipper shrugged. "Now we need to go down to the throne room. My...my family is waiting."
"Hang on, Pine Tree," Bill's arm slid across Dipper's waist securely and teleported to the throne room in a cloud of yellow smoke.
___
Mabel shivered despite the heat of Weirdmageddon. It's been four years since she'd last been here.
The Pines family had conjured up this great plan to get inside the Fearamid to rescue Dipper, even with her protests. Mabel was afraid that if they'd come, Bill would do something to Dipper. When he came to the Mystery Shack four years ago after the deal was made, he looked completely fine. No scratch or bruise marred her brother. He didn't even look troubled.
Ford suggested mind-control or brainwashing when Weirdmageddon became global.
She didn't think so. Dipper brought the equation to Bill...willingly? He didn't look like he was fighting his mind. She knew Dipper. He never gave up. He wouldn't give up and let Bill take away his mind like that.
Dipper would also not let Bill break their deal. Bill promised to make sure the Pines family was safe. Nothing has happened to them. There was one time while they were out on patrol when an eyeball saw the group. But it just dismissed them and carried on.
Mabel didn't want to come on this...rescue journey. She didn't feel this was right. Dipper was her twin, after all...she would know if something was wrong, even if they're far away. But Dipper has always been on the far side of town and Mabel wasn't worried.
No one believed her whenever she said that Dipper was fine. Not even when they all heard henchmaniacs talking about Dipper's well-being out in the forest on patrol. If Dipper went by those years ago that easily, then he could do it all the time. But why hasn't he? Maybe he really was content in the Fearamid.
Mabel glared at her Great Uncle Ford. It was his fault for getting caught. They didn't even need to be here. There was no need for a "rescue mission". Here they were, in that great throne room with that giant stone throne. Henchmaniacs were blocking their way out. There were henchmaniacs lined up beside either side of that throne.
Then they appeared.
There was Dipper. He was different than she'd last seen him. He was taller and bigger and was wearing his normal red shirt and shorts. He didn't have his hat on, though. His jaw was more defined and she almost didn't notice that slight hint of stubble on his face.
He didn't look...troubled. He looked happy. She was right!
But then something caught her eye: Bill had an arm wrapped around Dipper's waist and Dipper didn't seem at all bothered by it.
Dipper caught her eye and his eyes widened. "Mabel!" He stepped out from Bill's grasp and ran over to her.
Mabel fell to her knees as she sobbed.
Her brother wrapped his arms around her at last.
This chapter made me happy.
Anyway, so I wasn't really feeling it all month and some of April and May to write at all (that's why the last chapter was so short) and yesterday, I was reading through all of your comments and that really made me motivated to finish this chapter. Thank you so much for commenting and voting on this and this chapter wouldn't probably be here if it weren't for all of you guys!! Thank you so much!!
