"Uh-huh." I said as I nodded my head. Her face lit up as she heard my response.
"Really?! That's great! If you could just sign this please?" she said as she handed me the clipboard. She put the pen in my hand and guided it to where I should put my information. I wrote down my name, phone number and signature. She immediately walked off as soon as I finished signing the sheet. As I stopped to think, I wondered what in the world did I just sign up for.
"Um, wait!" I called out, but she's already busy going for the others. I walked towards her but my phone suddenly rang. I checked who it was. It's my mom.
"Mom?" I greeted as I answered the call.
"Where are you, hon? Dinner's ready. Get home now. You can go out again after eating." she said.
"Alright mom. I'm on my way home now." I said as I hung up. Fine. I'll just go back here after eating dinner. I put my phone back in my pocket, and headed home. I arrived home, ate my food and headed back to the park without saying a single word. It's already a bit dark out, but I don't care. I wanted to clear the misunderstanding. The park came to view, and I pedaled a bit faster. As soon as I got to the park, I hit the brakes and saw that there were only a few people left and the people and the sign-up table wasn't there anymore. I stopped for a while to catch my breath. Well, it looks like I'm screwed. At least I can get money of off it, right? I should have listened to what she said. Stupid me. As I banged my head on the handlebar, I felt a chill run up my spine. I looked around to see if the chill came from a peeper. I looked up, down and all around, but I couldn't see anyone who's looking at me, so I brushed it off and head back home. This day is officially one of my worst days. As I pedaled home, I felt as though my strength was being sapped away every second. Luckily, I had enough energy to get home safely. I dragged myself up the stairs and crashed onto my bed. My eyelids closed and darkness was the only thing that I could see. My body was heavy and I felt my drowsiness completely overcome me and put me to sleep.
"Madeleine. Oh Madeleine!" I could barely hear someone calling my name. I tried to open my eyes, but all I saw was darkness.
"Hello? Who's there?" I called out. I waited a couple of moments. Nothing. A chill ran up my spine as I heard a hissing sound come from behind me. A short while after and the hissing disappeared.
"Madeleine!" the voice called for me again. This time, I noticed a light come from behind me. I turned around and saw that I was in my neighborhood. I looked behind me and saw that the darkness had disappeared. Was I sleep walking? It can't be. I'm sure I should still be asleep right now.
"Madeleine." I heard the voice again. I walked toward where the voice came from. I continued walking and eventually found myself in front of a building. Weird. I've only been walking for a while and I'm already here. I noticed a guy with a pair of red eyes in the reflection in front of me. I turned around and he started walking towards me. I turned around and found myself in an alley. I looked back and the guy was still there. I started walking. I could hear his footsteps get closer. I heightened my pace and eventually ran. As I was running, blood started to run down the walls beside me. The whole place turned red and I felt as though I was going nowhere. I could hear his breath get closer. I still tried to run. As soon as I felt his hand touch my back, I screamed at the top of my lungs. Here it is again. The feeling of being chased. It's like I'm just replaying the nights. This is not good. I was panting, wheezing, gasping for air. The fright that came from the dream almost made me cry. I heard my door opening, and before I could look, the person's arms were already wrapped around me. This warmth. It's only my brother who possessed this warmth. I'm sure of it. He's always there when I needed someone. I grabbed tightly at his clothes and buried my face in his shoulder. My tears started to flow and he just stayed as he usually does, silent.
