just like every other day of the week, daniel is sitting in his room, playing on his phone or whatever the hell he does. i don't understand. he's been out of this relationship for four fucking years. can't he just get over her? normal people move on within a couple of months, but daniel? make it a couple of years.

he skips rehearsals at least twice a week, and it's taking a toll on the band. we have a tour in three months to prepare for, and he knows absolutely none of the choreography. i don't think he's even memorized some of the songs. 

he's physically and mentally heartbroken.

he claims she is the love of his life. the one he's meant to be with forever, but he fucked that all up when he went and fucked some random girl and elaina just happened to come visit while it was happening.

he's broken.

"daniel, it's time for rehearsals." i said, knocking on his bedroom door.

there was no response.

i opened the door, but he wasn't in there.

"guys, do you know where daniel is?" i called down the stairs.

"he's outside." zach answered.

"thanks. he can't miss another rehearsal." 

i went outside and i found daniel sitting on the edge of the cliff in our backyard. he looked very deep in thought.

"hey daniel, you okay?" i asked him, sitting down next to him on the edge of the cliff.

"in all honesty, no." he sighed, putting his head in his hands.

"you can talk to me," i told him, rubbing his back.

"so i know you don't believe in all this crap about me not being able to move on, but after seeing her again yesterday, she's all i can think about. she's occupying my mind and i can't get her out of it. she's a drug that my mind is addicted to. i just can't get over her. i don't even find any other girls attractive anymore. she's the only girl i find beautiful." he told me, looking down in his lap, "imagine if you broke up with tatum. you consider her the love of your life, don't you?" 

i nodded my head in response.

"it would take you a long time to move on from her. you would probably be in the same situation i'm in. you know tate is the only person you're ever gonna love for the rest of your life. if something ever happened between you two, you would never stop loving her until the day you die. am i correct?" he asked.

daniel was right. when you find that one person that can only make you feel the way they make you feel, you know they're your soulmate. if something happened that caused me and tatum to break up, i know i would never be able to move on and i would be heartbroken until the day i died. i finally understand. i finally understand why he is so depressed and upset about this. he knows it's her. elaina is to him is like tate is to me.  i'll never stop loving her. he'll never  stop loving elaina.

"that's correct." i said.

"so you finally understand? do you finally understand why this is so hard for me? why i can't move on and i'll never be able to?" he asked.

"i understand now." i assured him, nodding my head.

"good."
