Victoria's POV

THUMP.

THUMP.

THUMP.

My body went rigid.

My breathing started to accelerate times 100.

I slowly walked to the door and placed an ear on the door, waiting...Waiting...Waiting.

Waiting for another sound.

Nothing.

I knew that if something were out their and trying to get to me, that I would be trapped in here.

So I was going to do what every dumb protagonist does in the horror movies, open the door and check it out.

My palms were sweating and my heart was beating.

I wiped my hands carelessly on my shorts, than took a big breath.

My hand was shaking as I slowly reached for the door knob.

My hand was hovering over the knob as I kept trying to talk myself out of it.

I bit my lower lip and turned the knob ever so slowly.

The door made a loud creaking sound as the door opened at the speed of a snail.

I peeked my head out but saw nothing, for I had shut all the lights off previously.

I squinted my eyes, scanning the hall ahead of me.

When I still saw nothing, I decided it was time To get out there.

I opened the door a tad more so I could fit through.

I took one tiny step into the hall, pausing for a moment to listen for any unusual sounds.

I slowly took another step out in the hall, and closed the door behind me.

It was pitch black and I could barely see the outlines of everything.

I walked down the hall to the stairs, slowly and cautiously.

My heart was drumming in my ears and I was starting to sweat.

I reached the end of the hall to the stairs.

I pressed my back against the wall and stopped to catch a breath, even though I wasn't doing any physical activity.

I bit my bottom lip and peeked around the corner, slow and steady.

I looked for a split second before snapping my head back in fear.

I didn't actually see anything but I definitely had a feeling that I wasn't alone In the house.

I slightly peeked my head around again, this time searching for unwanted visitors.

Nothing.

I crept forwards a little, taking baby steps to the flight of stairs.

I gulped before taking a extremely slow step on the first step.

I let my feet slowly follow each other down the stairs.

I saw I was halfway done with the steps so I started rushing myself.

That was a horrible idea.

I stepped to hard on a plank, causing it to moan loudly.

It startled me so bad that I almost let out a scream.
