Denis' POV

After what felt like ages of getting over the bridge with all our stuff in my hands, I finally got to my house.

I saw from the outside that all the light were off.

I tried to free one of my hands as much as possible to open the door since Victoria said she would keep it unlocked, but it wasn't.

I sighed carelessly and gently set a hand of groceries on the ground besides me.

I pulled my keys from my pocket and searched for the house key that only took me a second.

I opened the door and pushed it open, seeing nothing due to the lack of lighting.

I picked up the bags and walked in, kicking the door closed behind me silently.

I looked around as I walked ahead to the kitchen.

I placed the bags down, causing it to make a loud thump.

I froze for a moment, afraid that Victoria was sleeping and I would wake her with all the noise I was making.

I turned around and started walking to the stairs quietly.

I started hearing strange noises, like someone was distressed or something.

Was that Victoria?

I turned around the corner.

Suddenly I saw someone lunge towards me in a single stride of motion.

I didn't see it coming when I felt an agonizing pain in my groin, hearing a sickening crunch.

"OH!"

I nearly blacked out due to the shooting pain I felt.

Before I could hit the ground, I crouched down, biting on my lip to keep myself from wailing up in agonized pain.

"Denis?"

I couldn't respond to her words. My body was actually incapable of doing anything but die.

I barley felt Victoria's hands fall on my shoulders in panic.

"Oh My god! Denis are you alright! I am SO sorry!" She was breathing hard on my neck, out of breath.

After a moment, I slowly looked up at her with pain all over my face.

"Ow" I whispered.

"Oh god Denis, I didn't know it was you!" She was shaking violently.

The pain slowly faded after a moment, so I started getting to my feet, using the wall to help me up.

"Denis?" She asked quietly.

I suddenly just noticed her face in detail.

"Are you... Crying?" I asked lightly after a moment.

She quickly swept her hand across her face to remove the tears.

"It's nothing. Are YOU okay?" She asked, changing the subject.

"Yeah, I think I'm fine" I told her partially honest.

"Let's get you upstairs" she said, pulling me along by the shoulder, still quivering.

When we got to my room, I collapsed onto my bed, covering my face with my hands.

"Denis, I really am sorry, you just scared me a little." She said shamefully.
