Chapter Six-
It had been almost 10 days since I rejected Harry's goodnight kiss.
The days passed quickly as I became swamped with college assignments in all of my classes. I tried to do some work ahead of time just to distract me, but Harry Styles was the only thing on my mind.
I hadn't received countless messages from him, begging for an explanation, and I had to admit that the fact that he hadn't texted me at least once bothered me, and Jackie felt the same way.
The first few days after our date, the only time Jackie stopped yelling at me for pushing Harry away was when she started complaining about him not reaching out to me. I tuned her out for all of that because it only made me miss Harry more.
Just like Harry, I tried to push that feeling away too.
When I finally got over my hysteria from last Saturday night, I made a vow to myself that I would stay away from anything that involved a relationship other than friends with the male species. And this time, I was serious.
I obviously was not emotionally stable enough to handle anything more, and I didn't want to end up getting hurt, or damage someone else, especially someone as sweet and charming as Harry.
It was a logical decision. I was killing two birds with one stone: saving myself and Harry from emotional destruction.
"Hello? Earth to Ava!!" Jackie's voice broke me from my thoughts.
"Sorry." I said, shaking my head, trying to clear my mind. "What were you saying?"
I went over to Jackie's room around 6:00 after I got out of literature to watch a movie, which I obviously wasn't paying much attention to. I didn't even remember the name of it.
I was sitting on the floor, my back leaning against the side of Jackie's bed while she was sitting on top of it.
Her room was accented with pictures of her and Jason and her and her family and friends. All the pictures were lined with a teal border to match her bedding. I smiled at her perfectionism.
"As I was saying," Jackie began as I turned around to face her. "Jason was telling me that he passed this night club called Cabanas on his way back to Delaware last week. He said it look really cool so he searched it and it got amazing reviews, plus you have to be 18 to get in. So he asked if you and I wanted to go on Friday. Do you want to?"
"You're gonna go to a night club?" I scoffed. "That does not seem like something you would enjoy."
"Well I've never been to one actually, but it sounds really fun!" Jackie exclaimed. "And I need somewhere to wear my new dress!" She cooed.
Me too, I thought.
"You too!" She said, reading my mind.
"I don't know Jackie." Going to a club wasn't the problem here. I loved to dance and have a good time, but going with Jackie and Jason meant that I would be the third-wheel.
And that was not at the top of my priorities list.
"Oh come on Ava!" Jackie had moved from the bed to floor, sitting a little to close to me for comfort. "I'm not gonna go unless you go! I think we would have an awesome time and I want you to meet Jason." She urged.
"Me too, but I don't want to third-wheel, Jackie. You and Jason should just go together and have a good time." I sighed and gathered my hair to one side, picking at my split ends.
I bet Harry doesn't have split ends, I thought to myself.
"Ava Grey," Jackie began, "Look at me right now."
