Cheryl's Perspective
"What do you mean? I'm not going to leave you." I say rubbing her back trying to comfort the breaking serpent. I've never seen her like this and it's devastating me. She had always closed everyone off, but something about that song made her break.
"When I was young, my mom died in my arms, even though she said she would get better." She sniffled. My god, her life is messed up bad, "What about your dad?" I asked quietly, fearing that anything above a whisper would break the fragile girl in my arms.
"He wasn't great. He was involved in the serpents like me, but often got in jail for violence and drugs. When I was seven he skipped town and never came back, not even saying goodbye to me or my mom." She said pulling away and placing her hands on her thighs with her head down.
"I don't know why I'm telling you this, your life's messed up enough." She laughed, it wasn't a happy one though, more like trying to avoid the pain in her voice. I place my pointer finger on her chin and lift it up so her eyes meet mine. They were riddled with tears, "Hey, I of all people know messed up families. Just know that even if you think you are alone, you're not. I'm here and always will be, I love you." She looks at me, then my lips, and back before she leans in and kisses me. I smile as I deepen the kiss, pretty soon her tongue slipping into my mouth as we fight for dominance.
I pull away and smile, "Alright, I have pasta downstairs that's probably cold now." I laugh as we get up. Toni wipes her face of tear stains and entangles her hand in mine as we go downstairs to eat.
I heated up the now cold pasta in the microwave and processed what I had just witnessed. I then look at Toni who was blankly staring into space and smiled. I took out my phone and quickly took a photo, god she was cute.
Toni's Perspective
I had zoned out thinking about everything but was brought back into reality by Cheryl placing our plates on the table. "You okay?" She asked as she went back to grab the bowl of pasta. "Yeah, just zoned out I guess." I said as I took a scoop, pouring it on my plate, it smelled amazing. It tasted even better when I took a bite and pretty soon finishing it.
I look up to see Cheryl holding back a laugh with her hand in front of her mouth, still holding her fork. "What?" I ask as I wiped my mouth. "Oh nothing, you just ate that like you haven't eaten in days." She laughed as she took a bite. "Yeah well I'm hungry so you can't blame me." I mumble, but loud enough for her to hear.
"Fair enough." She says before taking her last bite out of her meal, taking the plate sand heading to the kitchen. "I can do it." I say standing up. "No, I'll do it, you've done enough for me today." She says turning back around. I quietly sneak up on her and wrap my arms around her waist and lay my head on her shoulder.
"Wanna watch a movie?" I ask, watching her clean. She laughs, making my heart melt. "Yes, I'd love that. Which movie, I pretty much have all of them." She says as she puts the last plate in the dishwasher and starting the cycle. "I'll surprise you okay?" I say kissing her cheek.
I head to the movie rack and decide on 'Titanic' for no perticular reason. I slide it in and Cheryl comes in with sodas and a bowl of popcorn. We get situated and start the movie. "I love Titanic." She says, I'm a bit relieved since I didn't know what she liked in movies.
About 20 minutes into the movie Cheryl's head is leaning on my shoulder and I can't stopped smiling. "I love you too." I say, and she perks up a bit. "What?" She asks confused and the sudden reply. "Before dinner you said you loved me, and I never said it back. So I'm telling you now." I look down at her and smile. I can see a blush creep onto her face and she rests her head back on my shoulder once again.
"I'll never get used to you saying that." She says, her eyes fixated on the movie. "And I'll never get used to saying it. But I mean it, I love you, from the moment we met I may not have known it, but I loved you." I smile a bright pink tint of blush arising on my face.
Pretty soon Cheryl falls asleep on my shoulder, we were only three-quarters of the way done. I laugh quietly to myself and turn the TV off. I gently remove her from me and pick her up bridal style, she's light. I carry her to her room and lay her down on the bed, and as I was about to leave I heard a small voice.
"Stay.." I smile and turn around to see Cheryl looking at me half asleep. I nod and crawl into bed next to her. She al,ost immediately wraps herself around me, her body melting perfectly into mine as we lay in silence. I hear her light breaths, indicating she was asleep.
I kiss her forehead and see her smile in her sleep, and then lay my head on top of hers. Soon with the help of Cheryl's calming breaths and the fact that she's safe in my arms allows me to drift off to sleep.
