"What do you mean we have to research matchmakers?" Travis whined as they walked up to the small library that was located at the Starlight resort. Of course a bigger library would of been beneficial, but it was summer vacation. Very few people are reading.
Aaron replied, "Matchmakers are apart of a forgotten culture, just like werewolves are. Humans and the different 'mystical' creatures use to work together until... until they stopped trusting creatures that could kill them with a snap of their fingers."
Aaron trailed off as if he was reflecting on his past. He was told to hide his werewolf genes his whole entire life. It was almost relieving to think that there was a time when mystical creatures were apart of human history. Yet at the same time it was depressing. Yes now they were able to live together again, but what happened to make them so feared in the past?
"I wonder why..." Travis said defiantly. Aaron tried to ignore his rude remark, and continued. "Something happened to make them so feared. They were erased from human history, and they were all documented as legends. Myths. Well, all legends have their own story books. Maybe it can provide some info on why Ash is doing what she's doing."
They entered the building and were shocked to find how little books were in the building. He didn't expect a huge edifice filled with books, but at least more than three shelves would of been nice.
The room was about the size of a mini mart, with three bookcases reaching the ceiling on the left side. The rest of the room looked deserted. The light blue painted walls had cracks in them, and the green rug looked torn. A sad excuse for a library... a very sad excuse...
They walked up to the clerk and he stared at them as if he was seeing a ghost. He immediately placed his phone on the counter and looked them in the eyes. Pushing up his classes with his index finger.
The clerk startled, greeted them saying, "Oh! Uh... hello! Welcome to the Starlight library. My name is Jay, what are you looking for?"
"A library." Zane stated matter-of-a-factly.
Jay laughed, "So am I. Unfortunately nobody likes to read on summer vacation so the park spends the vast majority of funding on new rides. Which in turn means the library maintenance fund plummeted."
"You like reading?" Travis asked.
"Yes," he responded, "but none of the books I'm interested in are kept here. I prefer history, all those are old legends and folklore. Not really my style... so I read history texts on my kindle." He showed them his phone where he was open to a kindle app. There they could see he was reading "The History Of Milk Vol. 5: Chocolate or Strawberry?"
Zane and Travis couldn't help but laugh at this title, but Aaron stayed serious. He thought about what the clerk had said. Only legends and folklore. Sounds like a good place to start.
"Does this library hold any books on matchmakers?" Aaron asked. The clerk looked surprised at the question. He suddenly grew a sly smile on his face and raised an eyebrow. He asked, "A matchmaker aye? You looking for love my friend?" He leaned forward and placed his elbows on the counter, awaiting a response.
Aaron raised an eyebrow as if questioning the man. "Something like that" he replied. The clerk smiled as he got up from his seat and walked over to the small collection of books. He almost looked as if he was scanning the shelves as he searched for what Aaron had wanted. He eventually reached toward a high shelf on the second row, grabbing a book with pink binding. Yup, that's it.
Jay walked over to Aaron and placed the book in his hands. "'The Legend of the Matchmaker', If you wanna find love I wouldn't check in this book. You know matchmakers aren't real right?"
