The Triple Date Disaster

Chapter 22: A New Witch

"Nana?"  Zane asked as he led Kawaii~Chan out of the woods to the area the boys camped the previous night.  "What can you tell me about the night you disappeared?"

"It was the weirdest thing Zane~Kun!  Kawaii~Chan was mad at Zane~Kun for some reason, and when she and him hugged, Kawaii~Chan felt very light headed.  Before she knew it she was with Katelyn~Sama and Aphmau~Senpai in the woods!  Then there was this girl named Ash who said that the boys didn't love them because they never took the time to know their secrets..."

"Secrets?  What does that mean?"

"Ash said, for example, that Zane~Kun never took the time to find out about Kawaii~Chan's time in the meifwa scouts."

"You were a meifwa scout?"

"Ya!  Kawaii~Chan even had a really cute bell on her bike to help sell cookies!"

Bell?  When she went missing, he heard a bell.  Did he hear her old bell?  What did Nana being in the meifwa scouts have to do with them disappearing though?  Why would that make a difference?

They continued to walk through the woods.  It was almost completely silent except for the sound of Zane's heart beating.  He just kept looking at Kawaii~Chan as they walked.  He couldn't help but feel bad though... he had no idea she was in the meifwa scouts.  Maybe she mentioned it to him, he briefly remembered the mention of that group, but in reality he didn't know a lot about her time there.

Once they reached the camp area, Kawaii~Chan began to look for a way back to Starlight.  "Kawaii~Chan and Zane~Kun need to find a way to make it back to the others.  Maybe they could try to call Ash?  She said she would always be there to help us."

Zane was confused by that, didn't she realize that Ash was the enemy here?

Zane spoke to her, "Nana, we can't trust Ash.  Trust me, we tried trusting her already.  She played the victim, saying she loved Ein..." He laughed.  "I almost wanted to gag, I mean, Ein?  Anyway she ended up just turning on us.  Which I suspected by the way, but whatever.  Anyway... can I ask you something?"

"Sure Zane~Kun"

"Can you tell me about all your years in the meifwa scouts?"

Kawaii~Chan was almost shocked.  It hardly seemed like the time to talk about the meifwa scouts.  According to Zane, Ash was a bad person.  But when she took them she seemed like she just wanted to help.  That's when she remembered, took.  She kidnapped them, that must mean she was the bad guy here.  Still though, they needed to get back to everyone else somehow.

She smiled at him, "Zane~Kun, we need to find Aphmau~Senpai and all the others.  This is hardly the time for Kawaii~Chan to talk all about the years she spent there."

Zane smiled back and walked up to her, placing his hand gently on her arm.  He looked down into her eyes and spoke softly, "Please?  Nana, we talk about MLH, and cupcakes, and we hug all the time.  But, we never talk."

"What does Zane~Kun mean?"

"We never talk about what matters.  We never get into each other's past.  We need to get to know each other better.  Like true couples do.  I want to know the real you."

That's when Zane realized.  He loved Kawaii~Chan, he really did.  But he wanted to love all of her, including her past.  He realized he lacked the one thing a good boyfriend needed to have.  A longing to get to know the real girl who he was falling in love with.  

Kawaii~Chan smiled at him.  "That's very sweet of Zane~Kun, but Zane~Kun and Kawaii~Chan really need to find the others."

"No Nana, I want to know about your time as a meifwa scout."  He walked a few steps away, and grabbed a flower.  He then did a little spin on his heals, and got down on his knees with the flower extended toward her.  "Please?" he asked with a smile.

Kawaii~Chan laughed and took the flower, then gave a little bow, "Okay".

He lead her to the logs where they first discovered that Katelyn had a forever potion on her.  Except this time the event taking place was much more pleasant.  Instead of Zane finding out about her having a spell on her, he found out her past.

He listened about how Kawaii~Chan told how she was the top meifwa in cookie sales for pretty much her whole time there.  He listened how a little blue meifwa came up to her when they were in college and basically had a heart attack when she saw her.  How Kawaii~Chan is basically a celebrity with young meifwa; and every once in a while gets an autograph request.

She told stories of her and her siblings, and the times her and her dad spent making the cookies to sell.  He listened for hours as she explained her childhood, although it didn't seem like that long at all.  He never spoke a word, just laughed at the jokes she would throw into her explanations.  

"Tell me more" he said once Kawaii~Chan stopped with her stories.  

She laughed and answered, "Kawaii~Chan doesn't really have all that much more to tell."

"More about your time at the meifwa cookie baking training camp!"

"No Zane~Kun!  Kawaii~Chan told you almost everything she can remember!"

"Exactly, almost everything."

"Zane~Kun, Kawaii~Chan and Zane~Kun need to find the others."

"Your right..." he agreed with a groan.

They got up from the logs, but Zane wished they hadn't.  He loved just listening to her voice, no matter what it was she was saying.  He was glad to just get to know her.

They searched for a way back to Starlight, but they pretty much decided it was too far.  

"I know!" Kawaii~Chan exclaimed.

"Yes?"

"We can make a portal!  Ash taught me how!"

"What do you mean Ash taught you how?"

Zane didn't like the idea of Ash teaching Kawaii~Chan magic, especially portals.  Actually, he didn't like the idea of Kawaii~Chan with Ash at all.  

Kawaii~Chan continued, "I can get us to Starlight!  I know magic now!"

Kawaii~Chan raised her hand and a green flame came from her palms.  That's when Zane realized what she meant by Ash teaching her magic.

A witch forever potion.  

Doesn't giving someone magic defy the laws of magic?  How did that even work?

He began to step toward her, "KC, I don't like the idea of you making a portal."

But it was already too late, she had her eyes closed and her hands to the ground.  Once she stood back up, a green swirl began to overcome the ground they were standing on.

Once the portal fully formed wind circled all around them, sending Zane's mask flying.  He reached for it but it was too late, he watched it get sucked into the portal Kawaii~Chan had formed.  He clenched his pocket.  "Nana!  I don't trust this!" he shouted.

Kawaii~Chan looked at him to reveal that her eyes were fully green.  No iris, no pupil, just green.  She spoke in an echoed voice, "Jump through!"

Kawaii~Chan jumped through the portal she had created, and Zane followed after her.
