Chapter.24. Sunday dinner (part.2)

Same day, a few hours later

At dinner, Marcus's Pov

When we got to Noel's house we walked up the steps and when we knocked Cece opened the door for us.
We went inside and greeted everyone and I headed to the kitchen to see Noel.
When I got into the kitchen I went up behind her and wrapped my arms around her.

"Hey baby" I whispered in her ear kissing her neck.

"Hey babe, how was your morning?" she asked.

"It was good, but my day got better when i got you in my arms"I said smiling at her.

"Your so cheesy" she said grinning at me while shaking her head.

"You love it" i said winking down at her.

"Yeah your right i do, now go set the table" she said pointing at the stack of plates on the counter behind us.

"Yes ma'am" i said smacking her butt before grabbing the stack of plates and going to the dining room.

"Your bad" she said to me trying to be stern but turning her head to hide her smile.

i smirked and set the table.

After i finished setting the table i went bac

k into the kitchen and sat on a bar stool at the counter and watched Noel, she looked so happy and at peace when she cooked she stirred something in a pot then checked the oven before looking up at me and making eye contact then smiling at me.

"I'm telling everyone tonight about the plan, mama doesn't know yet and since were all kinda one big family at this point i rather just tell everyone at the same time.

Her smile dropped for a minute, then she put on a fake one.

"Don't do that baby i'm gonna be fine, i have a lot to offer this guy i can improve his business" i said knowing what she's thinking.

"What if-" she started but i stopped her.

"No what if's, i'm gonna be okay sure i'm going to a gang but i have things to offer i don't need money like the other dudes that join gangs do, we got this" i said getting up and hugging her.

"Your right i'm sorry, but i'm your my boyfriend i'm always gonna worry" she said sending me a small smile.

"I know baby but i just want you to worry a little less" i said kissing her head still holding her in my arms.

"I will, once everything is worked out and we can all worry less" she said putting her head on my chest.

I sighed, kissing the top her head and putting my head on top of hers.

We stood like that for a few minutes before a timer went off and she pulled away from me. She walked over the the stove and turned the burner off after checking it, she opened up the oven and pulled out a honey glazed ham. She then put a strainer in the sink and took the pot over to the sink i then realized it was potato's in the pot as she strained them into the sink, once the potato's were done straining her put then back in the pot added a stick of butter then started mashing them with a hand masher, once she was done she put some in a bowl for the table and left the rest in the pot, once that was done she turned off a smaller pot and added garlic and butter to green beans and put them into a bowl for the table.

another timer went off and she went back to the oven, she bent over and took out brownies, for dessert.

Once everything was done she tuned off the oven and all the burners.

"Dad!" Noel called her dad into the kitchen.

"Will you take the ham to the table please?" she asked.

"Yeah sweetheart i got it" he said smiling at her, kissing her head and grabbing the ham off the counter before walking to the dining room with it.

"Baby will you get the potato's?" she said looking at me.

"Yeah, got it baby" i said kissing her cheek making her smile while i grabbed the potato's and walked into the dining room and sat them on the table.

"Dinner is ready!!" Noel yelled from the kitchen.

Everyone made there way into the dining room, Noel entering last with the bowl of green beans and sitting them on the table, before sitting down on the corner in between me and he dad, as he sat at the head of the table on her left while i was on her right.

"Before we eat Marcus want's to talk to everyone, after he's done we'll say grace, and then you all can dig in. okay?" Noel said before anyone grabbed a bowl.

Everyone nodded then turned there head to me.

"Well, everyone here know's that Malik recently got involved with one of the local gangs and got in too deep before he was honest about it" i started off by explaining why were having this talk,

"Go on Marcus, what is it?" Mama said.

"Well me and Noel have recently been looking for ways to help him get out and none of them and well for him cause the only way to get out of a gang is jail or death and since i wouldn't let either of these things happen, we found a loop hole and that is a position swap, meaning that a family member or me in this case takes his place in the gang freeing him from any part of it, and before you interrupt know that we thought of everything and going to the police isn't an option without solid evidence" i said explaining my plan to help Malik.

"How are you gonna do this?" mama asked looking scared.

"Iv'e scheduled a meet up with the leader of the gang his street name is 'the killer' i know one of his corner boys and told them to tell him that we need to talk, they gave him my number, a few days ago i got a text from a restricted number saying a location of an abandon building a few miles out of town with the date for this Friday at 9 o'clock so i'm going there and were gonna see what happens. i'm taking my phone and Noel knows how to track it, i'm gonna take pictures of the building and send them to Noel just in case things go south, if i'm not back or haven't contacted anyone by 1 am Noel is gonna call the police, and tell them everything we can get them for kidnapping if they try anything that night and Killer doesn't want to go with the plan if he goes with it we'll discuss my ideas and i'll take Maliks place" i explained the hole plan to everyone at the table they all looked shocked and worried, besides Noel and Mr.Thomas they already knew everything.

"I know this is shocking but there's no going back, Now lets eat" i said not really leaving any room for anyone to disagree.

We all grabbed hands and Mama said grace.

"Amen" we all said together after grace.

"Dig in everyone,brownies for dessert" Noel said squeezing my hand before grabbing the mashed potato's and putting some on her plate.

We all passed around the bowls until everyone had what they wanted, once everyone had what they wanted we all began eating with small talk here and there and some laughing like once big family.
