Chapter.6. Thanksgiving

Date: November 24th,2016

Marcus POV

Today is thanksgiving and my mom always cooks a really good breakfast so right now Me, my mom, and my brother were eating breakfast when my mom started a conversation.

"So i have some news for you guys" she said

"Whats up mama" i said

"Well....i got my GNA license online, and i got a job at the hospital" she said

"That's great mama, i'm really proud of you" i said

"Yeah, Me to mama when do you start" Malik said

"I started this past Monday" she said

"how come you didn't tell us" i said.

"I didn't think i would get the job, and i didn't want to get your hopes up cause there were two other girls who could've gotten the job but my boss called yesterday and said i was the best fit for the job" she said.

"that's great mama" we said at the same time.

"Also were going over my work friends house for dinner so you guys go get ready dinner is at 3" mama said.

we all got up and i helped mama clean up before heading upstairs too shower, after my shower i go to put lotion on but its not there, rolling my eyes i know my brother took it so i leave my room i go to his open his door and what i see makes me so mad.

"what the fuck is all this Malik!!" i said

"Nothing man mind your business" he said

There was a gun, small bags of cocaine, and dime bags of weed, and a band of cash on his bed. i looked at him and shook my head.

"I can't believe your doing this shit man, me and mom have been working our asses off for the future of this family" i said

"Man mind your business and get out of my room" he said

"You don't get it, that's why our father is in jail once your involved it that shit you don't get out" i said.

"Get out" he said looking guilty

"I wont tell mama but you get out of this shit before its too late" i said, and left the room with my lotion.

After i finished getting dressed i had my mom braid back my hair and then she finished getting ready, then we left the house got in my truck and she put her friends address into the GPS.

Noel's POV

After my date with Marcus the other night i asked him if we could keep us dating a secret for a little while, so i can avoid people picking on me in case things didn't work out, and so we can go on more dates before the whole school finds out, he said he was okay with it for now.

Anyway today's thanksgiving and its for sure my favorite holiday not because i eat a lot but because i love cooking usually me and my mother would spend the day before thanksgiving slaving away in the kitchen not because we had to but because we wanted too. Some of my favorite memories were cooking thanksgiving dinner with my mom while my dad tried digging his hands into everything, but this year it was just me, of course aunt Clara offered to help but i'm a perfectionist when it comes to cooking, mom was too so even though she offered i said no.  

I had dad go to the store to get a nice table topper because aunt Clara invited her work friend and her family over for dinner, i didn't mind though its nice having more then 3 people at thanksgiving. i was in the kitchen and i heard the door bell ring i turned the pots on low and went too greet everyone in the living room when i got to the living room i was surprised.

"Aye your the kid that took my daughter on a date the other day" my dad said.

"Yes i am nice seeing you again Mr.T" Marcus said.

"Am i missing something?" the woman who i'm guessing is Marcus's mother said.

"Oh yeah mama this is Noel, the girl i was telling you about" Marcus said taking my hand.

"its nice to meet you Ms.Williams" i said

"oh child please call me Mama Ms.Williams makes me feel old" she said hugging me

"Okay Mama Williams" i said with a smile

"that's better" she said returning my smile.

"I had no idea about this date i'm offended" Aunt Clara.

"Sorry Aunt Clara i thought Cece would've told you" i said 

"It's okay hun" aunt Clara said to me.

"Lets eat!" my dad yelled making me shake my head at him.

"Okay boys set the table, ladies would you mind helping me with the food" i said. 

everyone agreed and once everything was done we sat down said grace and dug in to the food.

"Wow Ms.Clara this food is amazing" said Marcus 

"Oh sweetie that's nice but i didn't cook any of this, Noel is the master chef behind this meal" Aunt Clara said.

"Well then Noel this food is amazing, you'll have to cook for me sometime" Marcus said with a wink and a smirk, making me blush of course.

"We'll see" i said with my own smirk.

"Stop flirting with my daughter i'm right here kid" my dad said, making Marcus blush.

"Sorry Mr.T" Marcus said with a nervous smile.

"oh leave them alone Monty" aunt Clara said

"yeah Monty stop picking on my child, only i can do that" said Mama Williams.

We all laughed and enjoyed the rest of the meal everyone throwing complements my way about the food as we ate. 

After everyone was done eating we took out deserts to the living room and Dad put on Tyler Perry's "Madea's Family Reunion" it was my favorite Tyler Perry movie and he knew it everyone got comfortable me and Marcus Cuddled up together on the love seat while Cece, Aunt Clara, and dad took the big sofa, and mama Williams and Malik took the recliners. we all enjoyed the movie for the most part everyone getting mad at the abusive parts of the movies me especially cause the feminist in me comes out but Marcus calmed me down.

After the movie was over i went to the kitchen and packed away some food for Marcus, Mama Williams, and Malik to take home. after that they headed home Marcus saving my goodbye for last,

"See ya later baby girl" he whispered in my ear while hugging me

"See ya later Marcus" i said blushing.

He pulled away kissed my cheek and followed his family out the door.
