I stepped outside the airport and I could feel the breeze hit me in the face. The taxi pulled up and we both climbed in. "I can't wait to see what our hotel looks like!" Christie said. "I know right!" We both smiled. "Have you thought about what we should do tonight?" Asked Christie. I shook my head no and we both sat silently with too many possibilities running through our minds. All the sudden we heard a grumble from the taxi driver who interrupted our thoughts. "If you don't mind me suggesting ladies.." he said with a coy smile. "They are throwing a ball at this beautiful old castle, it is invitation only. Luckily I have 2 invitations right here" he said while smiling. We ignored his odd demeanor and smiled at eachother. "YES!" Screamed Christie as she grabbed the tickets. "Good, I'll pick you up at 8pm. It is formal so try to wear a gown." He said.
Christie looked at me with a devious smile. "Oh geez!" I mourned. "That means shopping!" She shouted.
We stopped at the hotel it wasn't exactly grand, but it was durable. We shared a room with two queen beds. We had a little kitchenette and a nice tidy bathroom. A typical hotel.
We decided to walk a couple blocks until we arrived at a dress store. As we walked in a little old lady smiled, "hello what are you looking for?" "Well we are looking for evening ball gowns, we have these tickets for tonight" Christie explained as she showing the lady the tickets. "Ah, how about I take your measurements and I will drop something off to your hotel that suits you both. I have two young girls who can help you get in the gowns."
"That won't be necessary, that's too much trou..." "No!" She interrupted. "This is a special ball and it is necessary that anyone invited has a dress that fits them" she chuckled under breath. I looked at Christie and she shrugged. "Okay, if you insist" I gave in almost too easily.
As we left the store I looked at Christie, "it seems like people are serious about this ball." She looked at me, "it's probably a yearly event here. Let's just enjoy it!"
