I woke up to the bed being empty. I got up and walked to the other side of the room where the fireplace was stained from old flames. Kaitlin opened the door and peaked in, "hello madam!" She curtsied. "Hello, where is Nicholas?"
"He had urgent business. He left you this note." She handed a red envelope to me.
Olivia,
Meet me in the piano room as soon as possible. Tell the guards you have arrived and I will meet with you.
Your love,
Nicholas

I looked at Kaitlin and she was already getting my dress for the day picked out. It was a peach tea length dress. It had short sleeves. It was simple but pretty. As she was getting the wrinkles out I put my hair up in a bun. I decided to go without any makeup today. Mainly because I was tired of wearing it. After I got dressed the burn in my throat hit me. I pretended to ignore it, but that was nearly impossible. Kaitlin looked at me and I could tell by the look in her eyes that she knew. I managed to smile as I began to turn and leave.
Since I could walk at an alarming speed we was in the piano room in no time. Luckily Nicholas came in as soon as I sent the guards off to get him.
As he walked in I noticed his hair was tousled and he looked exhausted. He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer. I let our lips touch. His kiss always captivated me, bringing me in a new world and kicking me out of the one we are tuned into everyday.
Once he stopped I looked up into his dark eyes. I could feel the burn of thirst creep up my throat once again. It was so hard to ignore it.
"What's wrong Nicholas?" I said finally letting my curiosity take over. He looked away as if he was hiding something. Shame? "I have agreed to head out with my army of men tomorrow. The rebels have erupted into a war."
"Why do you have to go?" I said pouting a little. We had just got married!
"I thought we've already gone through this Olivia! This is my kingdom and it comes first. I have to protect our species. Doing this protects you to!" He said sternly. I looked away, the thirst hitting me again. This time making my head pound and weakness take over. I sat in the floor putting my head between my knees as the world began to spin.
This thirst is no joke. It's like going without water and food. I felt like absolute shit. I heard Nicholas leave and come back. He had a glass full of red liquid. "Here drink this. It's not the real stuff, but you will be able to enjoy real blood tonight at our feasting." I took the cup and began to drink. "The feasting is only meant for you and the men going to war though" I said between gulps.
"Yes, but as a new vampire you will need some type of blood. Plus while I'm gone you'll be here ruling. You will need your strength. And luckily we have pulled together and have obtained enough to feast on for us too."
Dread ran through me, "I..i dont know how to rule. How am I suppose to make the choices that need to be made?"
"Don't worry Olivia, you will have Gavin here to help you. He is the kings right hand. Father is too ill to give orders. So as of right now it's up to you and Gavin." This is what made being a princess hard. "When will you be back?" I finally asked.
Nicholas grabbed my face, "I'm not sure. But we will be able to talk everyday if you need to." I felt sad. I was so alone when I first got here and now I will feel that way again.
Nicholas grabbed me and held me close. He picked me up and carried me back to our room. Putting me back down on the couch he began kissing me all over.

Nicholas and I straightened ourselves up and made our way to the large empty room where the feastings were held. I felt my anxiety starting to choke me. "I don't know if I can do this Nicholas" I said suddenly stopping in the hallway. "I don't know if I can kill someone and take their blood." He looked at me with sad eyes. "I know how you feel. But once you enter that room with all the humans your vampire instinct will kick in and you won't be able to stop yourself." I shuddered. "But the memories, I don't know if I can replay the thought of life leaving their eyes for the rest of my life."
"Try not to think about it as killing someone, but surviving. There is no way you can survive on imitation blood." That was a good way to think of it. If I continue to drink this crap I won't survive. It doesn't even really help the thirst die down for a long time.
I continued to move along with Nicholas.
He opened the doors and we sat down in a balcony watching the guest come in excited. I've been there once..
I could smell their blood. Making my thirst grow even stronger than it had before. Making it almost hard to keep on the balcony. Everything became invisible, even the screams and cries of those as they died in the hands of other vampires. There were a few humans still alive. The men moved away letting Nicholas and I see who our feast would be. All I could see, smell and hear was blood. I could hear the blood pumping through their veins, their heartbeats pump hard and fast. I could see the the best places the bite down to get to the veins. The smell of the blood captivating me.
We made our way down the balcony quickly taking our victims. I bit into a young girl feeling her squirm until she was still and cold. My burning in my throat disappeared. The satisfaction taking over. Once finished I threw her body down and looked over at Nicholas. He had a bigger appetite compared to me. He had went through 3 humans. Once he finished he looked up at me and smiled.

We began walking back the room and I grabbed him, pushed him against the wall and began kissing him. He kissed me back, both of us feeling more alive. I could taste the blood on his lips. He finally pushed me away and grabbed my hand pulling me to our room even quicker. Once we were inside the door he slipped my dress off. I pulled his shirt and pants off. He picked me up and pushed me against the wall while he continued to kiss me. We kept moving back and forth, moaning each time. We began to get lost in our actions moving faster and faster until we both climaxed. Nicholas didn't let me down. He carried me to the bed and then sat me down. I heard water running and he came back in picking me up. We both sat in the tub, kissing and staring into eachothers eyes. We were soaking, soaking up eachothers time and attention before he had to leave.
"I know I act tuff Olivia, but I'm terrified. I'm terrified to leave you. I'm terrified to know what the future of this kingdom will be." I stroked his face, "I'm terrified too, but I trust that you are making the right choice. Your father is ill and you have to do what's best for the kingdom." He nuzzled into my neck and I kissed his cheek again. We sat there until we were ready to head to bed. Once we were in our bed we continued to cuddle afraid of letting each other go. Afraid to fall asleep. Afraid of what tomorrow would bring.
