My Fate

Surprise

The next several weeks went by dreadfully slow. I was knee deep in meetings about the war, our species, and where Nicholas was. I've only received one call since he left. It was short and not much was said. I worried that a lot was being kept from me about the war.
I sat by the fireplace in our room, feeling sick once again. The stress has overcome me I'm sure of it. Kaitlin came in bringing me a cup of imitation blood. I've been letting most of society live off of the real blood and feasting while I survived on the fake. Our numbers for the feast was getting low.
When Kaitlin handed me the cup, something didn't feel right. I got up and ran to the toliet. Vomiting everywhere. Kaitlin rushed over to hold my hair back. "Are you okay madam?" She asked concerned. "Yes I'm just stressed." I tried to take a sip of the blood and vomited again. "Maybe it's best if you rest for a little?" Kaitlin looked at me with worry.
I went to sit in the bed and I felt it coming again. I continued to vomit.
Finally after I stopped I laid in bed and Kaitlin let Gavin know I was sick. I felt a another wave come over me, by this time I was almost dry heaving. "Should I get a doctor?" Kaitlin finally asked. "I don't think it's necessary."
We both snapped our heads to the door when we heard a knock. I went over and laid in bed while Kaitlin got the door. Gavin walked in and he could tell my the smell of the room that I had been vomiting. "I let the prince know you were ill and unable to attend meetings today" he said urgently. "What?! Why would you do that? He needs to focus on the war!"
"I made a promise I would keep prince Nicholas updated on your presence here at the castle. In fact I came by to make sure you weren't lying about being sick" he said harshly. I turned away feeling another wave about to hit. I ran to the toliet and began vomiting. Once finished I looked at Gavin and his face was twisted in worry. "I will be getting a doctor" he said turning on his heels walking quickly away.
I looked at Kaitlin, "I'm so exhausted and dizzy. Can I lay on the bed?" She rushed over and helped me to the bed. I laid down and instantly fell asleep.
I was woken up to a doctor standing over me. "Excuse me princess I'm just going to do some test." He scraped the inside of my mouth and I fell back to sleep. I was woken up again to the doctor in the room talking to Kaitlin. I sat up looking at them trying to hear what was going on. Kaitlin left in a hurry and the doctor noticed me looking at him. "Ah princess! I'm having your hand maiden get you some blood out of my stockpile in my office. I have news for you" he said.
"Am I sick? Is there something badly wrong with me?"
"No in fact there is something amazing going on. Your pregnant" said the doctor smiling.
