The Ball

I woke up to a knock on the door. I sat up and looked around rubbing my eyes. "Excuse me madam I wanted to know if you wanted breakfast before getting ready for the ball?"
I shook my head. Food was the last thing I wanted. "Are you sure madam? You didn't eat dinner last night?" She looked at me with concern. "I'm sure. Thank you for asking." Kaitlin walked to the closet picking out a dress. She smiled at me, "your going to love this piece." I got up and sat in the chair in front of the vanity. Kaitlin fixed my hair up in a beautiful up do. She did a dramatic look with my makeup. She put a red lip on me. I then began to step into the dress. It was a nude colored ball gown. It had lace around the back and it had beads down the bodice. Kaitlin also grabbed a pair of lace shoes for me to put on. I turned and looked at myself in the mirror. Once again I felt so beautiful. "Kaitlin..." I said. "Yes, madam" She looked concerned. "What happens if the public doesn't like me?" I looked at her waiting for her response. She had a sudden flash of worry, "Well madam... you don't live here anymore." I knew what she meant. I have to play pretend to live. Joy.

The guards huddled around me as we walked to the ballroom. They opened the door and I was met with a huge grand staircase that led to three thrones, two of which held two people that I dreaded to see. Please welcome our Princess Olivia" announced one of the men. Everyone smiled and looked up at me. I heard clapping. Well if pretend is what I have to play to live, then that is what I must do. I ascended down the staircase smiling. Vampires huddled around me bowing. I made my way to the thrones where I bowed to the king and prince. "I assume you have made up your mind?" Stated the king. I nodded. "Please take a seat then." I did as he asked and sat next to the prince.
Nicholas looked unamused with my act. Every guest began to greet us. One by one. "Ladies and gentlemen" announced the king. "Let us watch as the future king and queen take the first dance." I quivered a little. Nicholas got up and bowed as he put his hand out. I reluctantly took it. He led me to the dance floor and the a slow soft tune began. Before I knew it I was awkwardly in his arms dancing around the ballroom. Nicholas was almost a perfect leader I didn't have to think about it as I twirled. "Why do you hate me so? Even though you hardly know me?" I looked up into his grey eyes. There I go letting my mouth become me. He looked at me confused. "Hate you? I don't hate you. I don't want to be forced to marry someone I hardly know. But I don't hate you." I shook my head. "I understand. I'm sorry you have to marry me." He just looked at me and knitted his eyebrows together. He opened his mouth like he wanted to say something but he couldn't. As the music stopped, we stopped. He led me back to the thrown and we sat in an awkward silence as guest began to greet us. Suddenly a servant came by with a glass of wine and two glasses of blood. All three of us took our glasses and the king raised his. Every person including me followed along. "Let us celebrate life and love!" Announced the king. And we all took a drink.
An hour passed by and I began to feel hot. "Excuse me, I need to get some air" I began to stand up. I tried to make it out the door and the world started to spin a little too fast before I could take a step. I touched my forehead and I could feel it soaked with sweat. What is going on? All the sudden the world went dark and I felt the ground touch my body. I heard a crowd of people all around me. Then I felt strong cold arms around me. I couldn't focus on anything. Everything seemed fuzzy.
